I got my first nice boat- a Basscat a month ago and plan to start traveling around to fish different lakes.
I want to make sure my boat is secure when at the hotel or eating. I have ordered the Two-Way boat alarm from Tackle Warehouse and plan to get a prop lock from Bass Pro to keep my Fury prop on the boat. Anything else you guys would recommend when traveling? I obviously take the big Hummingbird 1198 and the front graph off the boat, will remove the Hydrowave and keep the rod lockers locked-up. Also, the trailer will be locked to the truck. Anything else that gets commonly stolen from parked boats? I plan to leave the rods locked in the locker. I think I run more of a chance of breaking a tip getting rods in and out of the lockers than keeping them locked up and the alarm set. Thanks.

You can buy some wireless motion alarms at harbor freight for a reasonable price. Put the sensors in your boat under the tarp. Work great!!
Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

if it is not bolted to the boat take it out at night, rod lockers are easy to get into even locked. get in the habit of removing anything you do not want stolen and just accept the fact that it is what you have to do so you can wake up and still have all your stuff. the alarm will help but may still not be enough.
just the way it is anymore. I remember being able to leave stuff in a 14' aluminum boat in a public dock and still have it the next day, couple of times even had more minners than I left in the bucket the night before. times have changed for the worse and I don't see them getting any better any time soon.

It's just sad that we have to worry about these things happening. I guess that's just the way it is

The Two-Way Boat alarm is basically an adjustable vibration sensor with a 128db siren and a pager that pages up to 3000' away- for $189.00 If that thing goes off I will be headed to the parking lot carring a loaded Glock stacked with +P+ hollow points. Would I shoot someone over a fishing rod... damn straight I would. I have seen the how sensitive you can set the vibration sensor. Excessive false alarms would be a bigger concern than someone getting into the boat without it going off. You can set it so sensitive a loud car driving by will set it off. A thief may be able to disable it but they'd have to climb into the boat, get under the console and cut some wires to disable it which would be nearly impossible without causing some vibration and setting the alarm off.

Get on line and google the security camara for inside your truck. My friend has his mounted on the Back Seat head rest post. It is very small and shoots forward and backwards at the same time. It runs for 12 hours when activated. You may like the motion sensor type.
No need to even look at the pics. unless something is wrong with your truck or trailer while parked at the boat ramp or motel.

You might look at getting a lock-r-bar. I have one on my cat. It basically bars down all the rod lockers and compartments on the front deck.

Take the rods out at night, locks are fine for the restraunt, at night take your stuff out, lock the battery compartment. Leave your empty boxes unlocked, that way they won't tear up your boat trying to get into empty boxes. I have even started to consider pulling the head of my fortrex off as they come off so easy and quick I am surprised they are not stealing those. It's a shame but it is reality.

Get a good cover that you can tow with. This will keep most your stuff fairly safe if someone has to remove the cover first. On the other hand they will probably just cut it up but every effort is notable.

Get a trail cam and mount it on your front seat faceing your boat.

Above plus Lock receiver hitch to truck. Spot weld ball stem to nut. Lock trailer hitch to ball. I go 1 step farther & lock both safety chains to truck (individually).
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.
