Hi everyone, I will be heading to Tawakoni this Friday to attempt to find a few crappie. I have fished for bass quite a bit but this will be my first attempt at finding crappie by myself. I will be using a combination between minnows and jigs. Can anyone offer any advice as to what pattern I might be able to focus on or what areas to look for? Feel free to PM me. Not looking for exact spots just trying to get on some fish so I can take a few home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try the stumps...in deeper water...or the bridge pilings...or the creek channels that wander through the stumps...I don't fish that lake, but that is a good general recommendation.

Just typical crappie fish'n there. North of two mile bridge start working the tree's, look for tree's the have a bunch of horizontal branches. Jigs is the only bait I use there. Slabmesilly jigs that have worked lately are Limeslime & Gotoo

I fished many many north TX water, but I know Twkn better than some other lakes.
Launching can be hazardous due to low water (before the rain), the best ramp is the State Park. If you re to launch somewhere South of the 2 mile bridge, any 15-30' depth of timbers will produce. I fished South end last Wed, and 37 bigguns in 1/2 day trip... Good luck!
As per Flipp earlier post, go to my website (click on my signature below) and view the two best working color combos:
Early morning = The Goto Too
Sunny part if the day = The Lime Slime
So if you have anything close to those two color combos, you should do well assuming you are willing to move from tree to tree. Let me know if I may help any further... Fish has been biting from 1-5' off of bottom. During sunny part of the day, make sure your jig is no more than 6" away from stumps!
If you are to find deep timbers in 30 fow, fish should stage anywhere from 12-18'
Good luck!
