Trying to pick a state park to take my kids to this weekend...does daingerfield have good fishing? I want to get into some catfish? Any suggestions?!

It's a great lake to take the kids too. It's one of my fondest memories as a kid. Not sure on the catfish...never tried. Near the pier should be good. Near the campground it's gotten shallow and some type of nasty grass has taken over.

Its a spring fed 80 acre lake. Water is pretty clear. Bass, sunfish, crappie, channel catfish and chain pickerel. Haven't been there in years, so I can't give you a report. There is a trail that goes around lake but may not be enough reward to walk it with family in tow. Earthworms under a float should keep kids plenty busy. Small ramp but I think outboards aren't allowed or there is a no wake restriction. Use to have canoes for rent. Call ahead it has been years like I said.

Spent many weekends there with the family years ago. Very nice and quiet. Fishing is good topwaters early then back off the bank and fish small cranks and plastics off of the points. Good swimming area for the kids too. Paddle boat and canoe rentals too.

All fishermen are legends in their own minds! Ranger Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Humminbird Electronics,Motor guide, and all the tackle in the world.

Usually go there twice a year, We have an annual neighborhood camping trip in the fall. Very nice fall foilage that time of year. During the spring we try to have a "man trip" there for the men' Very nice park. it was remodeled two years ago. The redo is great, the staff is great. nice 80-85 acre spring feed lake I have seen nice size fish come out of there. I know you decided on tyler state park(also a good spot). Kept Dangerfield in the back of your mind. You will not be disappointed. Hope your trip goes great. Enjoy the outdoors with your kids any chance you get.

May the Good Lord bless you with a bend in your rod.
