I have been guiding lots here latley on PK. The trips on or around the holiday were a little slow because of boat traffic.
We still have plenty of boat traffic this weekend but the fish regrouped and the bite was on.

Slabs with Flies are catching two fish at a time. The fish are suspended in front of points during the day and up on the points shallow early and late. On weekdays we even have some limited schooling shallow. The shallow fish will bite a chart Wild Eye.

I have had several reports of stripers biting from good sources. Not sure its enough fish to guide for them but they are there and big. Most of the reports come from folks fishing for sand bass. When Connor comes back from camp we will catch a tank of bait and check that out. I have fished seven sand bass trips in the last fourteen days and have not caught a striper. My sandbass holes are my old striper holes so we will see.

Family Style Guide Service is in full swing this summer and would love to have some of you come out to PK.We have plenty of places to stay and they lake is fishable. Its low but fishable. As of yesterday there are three public ramps open. the Willow Beach ramp is open but is not for use by amatures grin
Sand Bass are big and healthy and Cat Fish seem to be every place you go.

Yesterday morning I arrived at the spot I was to meet my trip at 6:00 AM. There is another guide there. I asked him whats going on. He says he is meeting the same guy I am meeting. I have been guiding for 18 years. Yesterday was the first time I have ever been stood up by a customer. This guy booked two guides at the same time and stood both of us up as far as i know.
When I realized what the dirt bag had done I did not get mad. I just said if they show you take them. If they do things like that I dont want to fish with them anyway. I went back and cleaned the boat up for the next good group that comes to PK. hammer

Give us a call and check out the the PK COC websight for all the great things gong on at PK.

18 years and that's the fist time...your lucky!!
Some people are very inconsiderate..they think we just show up and have nothing better to do..has happened to me twice this year already..I hate inconsiderate people...

Both times I just not so politely told them don't ever bother calling me again...like you said I don't need customers like that..

Yea JD most folks are a pleasure to fish with. I have been very lucky. I don't even ask for deposits because this has not been an issue in the past.
I did have two young men that fished with me three times many years ago. After the third trip I asked them to find another guide. The first trip they showed up with a bottle of tequla in a small ice chest. That was all.

Randy glad you are staying busy and understand about the guys just bringing a bottle. I always keep a cup onboard because you have to be careful whom you share a bottle with. I went to Texoma last week for 4 days and fished the Camp Cavett kids with JD, Axman, and the usual Texoma guys. Stayed at JD's Hidden Cabins and fishing was good. I saw a post where someone canceled their Sunday guide trip on Texoma because of ran. We ran out of bait Sunday morning at 8:30 trying to catch fish under 20". Big fish came easy.

Randy, always good to read ur threads. I love PK, wish work wasn't an issue, would like to head your way and get u to put us on some big PK angry " pesky" sandies.
Only good thing about the party that stood u up is, you can live without it, he/she has to live with it! They will never change.

Good report. Good to hear you find fish concentrated like that. The ones I was catching before I got were scattered.

Tough luck on the no show. Guess you need to take a credit card to hold the time and have them sign a "safety release" that includes language that they agree you can charge a no show fee.

PK thats one no show in 18 years.....There are issues with taking deposits....sometimes weather prevents a trip from happening and a whole list of other reasons that fishing trips don't happen. I would then have to issue refunds and the complications continue.
For now I won't require deposits.

Think about the folks at the YMCA last weekend when the fire works got canceled because of the drowning accident.
They never thought in a million years they would have several thousand people asking for a refund.
I am sure they were not prepared for that. noidea

Dang it Randy, all I can say is they missed a good trip, I believe we talked the night before and you were on some good quality fish. So what did you do then besides drink beer and throw bean bags? LMBO! i have been told that is a safe thing to do on PK at times.

Looking forward to chasing those larger fish with stripes soon.

Jim,
There was not anyone around to drink beer with or throw washers and bean bags. They were all home licking there wounds from my fourth of July party!
I cleaned the boat up,fixed the broken floor access over the gas tank, tightened all the screws on the windshield, scrubed the fish cleaning table, unloaded the dish washer, washed the towels, cleaned the bathrooms, washed out the margarita machine, and cleaned out the fridge. yawn
All those glamorous things that fishing guides get to do when there not fishing, playing silly games, riden golf carts and drinking!
Oh by the way ask your wife when my commision check will be here for selling that fine looking Texas Longhorn Golf cart of yours? popcorn

What Matt really means is, a no show that happens on a day he forgets to pack beer in case of a no show!
