( Sorry for the long read) I'm down to banging my head on the wall with this thing. Trying to get some info and a lil help if possible. My motor started out intermittently bogging down on take off, it wouldn't do it every time in the beginning. But now its almost impossible to get it out of the hole. It wont get over 2000 rpm with the motor trimmed all the way down to take off. It doesn't sound like it is banging on all cylinders. I can put it to the floor and start raising the trim and it will slowly start building rpm's, then it'll finally break over on plane and it will pick up and take off. Then when I shut it down and kill it, it wont restart for a while. Kinda like something electrical is over heating but no alarms. I've checked just about everything, Fuel pressure, spark, compression, head temp sensor, pulled induction manifold cover checked for leaks also checked injectors they look like they are all spraying equally the same. I'm lost to this point my buddy has a 96 ECU we wanted to swap and see if it would make a difference his ecu # is 824003 1... and mine is 824003 A30, just not sure they will interchange. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Alan.

I don't have any advice, but I have a friend with a 97' 200 EFI that has a lot of intermittent trouble like you are talking about. His will just bog and not go over 2800 rpms and then all the sudden take off like a scalded ape. It used to just do it every now and then, but now it happens 2 or 3 times per trip. You can kill his and it will crank right back up though.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Yours sounds more like its electric fuel pump related. I know you said you checked the fuel pressure but did you check it at full throttle? Have you or anyone checked the float, needle and seat in the VST. Replace the pump screen while your in their. It should work to check.

This one sounds more like the trigger or TPS.

I've already been in the VST the final filter was good. I've checked the fuel pressure at all rpm ranges and it remains the same, steady around 35 psi. I thought it could be the trigger also but it is advancing the timing correctly. Checked the TPS also and it checked out ok. Dropped the motor in the water and started pulling plug wires yesterday and found that #2 and #4 didn't make a difference when I pulled them.

Are the plugs on 2 & 4 wet or dry?. If they still have spark I would be checking the "O"rings on the injector fuel supply top port side or could be the manual fuel pump diaphragm making an over rich condition on that side. The trigger also signals the switch box`s and ECU telling each sparkplug and injector when to fire. Good Luck

Probably the ECU. Had the same problem as JiggyTime's friend, swapped ECU's and never had another problem. Try switching computers and see if you problem is fixed.

My Ecu part number wasn't listed, it is 824003 A30. All of the part numbers listed in the lower section do not list fuel psi so I'm assuming they are all the same.

Some are 56psi. I know when discussing ECU`s only # talked about is the A30. If you still have access to the -1 I would try it. Ask a guy his name is Phil Conant on Scream&fly. I have purchased 5 or 6 ECU`s from him.

Have a similar problem with my Optimax. I know totally different motor but we are getting a new ECM to put in it and try. Mine has been in the shop 20+ times for the same thing.

Tha a30 is tha latest model on most 200's. All tha production efi's run 39lb fuel systems. Will run ok at 35 or more........ECU's are kinda like props. Ya can take two identical pieces outta tha box and they may run completely different in one way or another....

have you checked the primer bulb? Mine felt fine when I was having similar problems but after I changed it, she ran like new.
