5:1 is nice

Even some of the older 3.8:1 work great but are hard to come by

Really for me the rod makes the bigger difference

I use 4.7 BPS David Fritts or Lews BBNG for big crank baits. For med running cranks I use 5.1. If you don't mind not having a thumb bar, BBNG is really good for big crank baits.

Thanks, Billy

Some say the lower the better, I personally like the higher speeds because I can get in the strike zone quicker with less turns in the reel, then I can slow retrieve with the rod tip once I'm at max depth.

Most people talk about using a 5 speed, and I usually have one rigged up. But the last couple of years I've started throwing deep crankbaits on a 6.1 or 6.4 speed and are having more bites. I get more bites crashing that bait through the brush, stumps etc. Just my2cents.

I use your basic BPS Qualifier
6.4.1 for shallow CB also doubles as a TW rig
5.2.1 for Med CB
4.7.1 for Deep CB
