Finally got a new rod for speck's and reds and will be buy a chronarch 200e7 to go with it. What size line would you guys recommend? I will be doing mostly wade fishing in the flats and the occasional pier fishing.

12lb to 15 mono works well for me when targeting Specs, and slot reds. I also use 20lb braid a lot also, it gives me a little more leeway for different fish size. I usually don't use braid on baitcasters, just a personal thing really.
As to brands,I like in no special order of importance.: Berkly Big Game. Ande Premium in pink, Ande Back Country works well too, if you aren't fishing around highly abrasive stuff like shell beds. High Seas mono is pretty good. Suffix Siege works good.
Braids: Suffix 832 Power Pro Tough Line
There are a many more, but most guys will agree that these usually come up in conversation around here alot.
When I fish the pier, I usually up the line to 20 or 30 lb because you never know what size fish you are going to hook up.

Thanks man that's really helpful! I am sort of new to saltwater fishing and am used to throwing 30lb braid on a baitcaster for bass. If I hook up with a big bull red could the 15 lb mono handle it? I want a line that won't give out if I do accidently hook up with a big fish.

I have used 12lb line for years, and never had any problems, But that was due to the reel size. I have some garcias with 15lb mono. I use berkley transoptic on most of my reels. But thats just my preference. Makes it easier to track my line but is invisible under water. Wade fishing I use 12-15lb mono with a 35lb fireline leader. If your going to be pier fishing you might want to go with braid just in case you hook something big.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

30lb braid will work, no need to respool just for salt water.

I like 17lb mono working from Sabine Lake, Neches River, and Galveston Bay. Caught a 35lb black drum on a Zebco 33 and 1/0 Aberdeen hook and never worried about it. Caught many slot and larger reds also.

I have the speed spin 40, I ended filling the regular spool with Fire Line, the braid spool seemed a little low on capacity, and man is it nice, lots of line for very long runs. I brought in a 25lb black drum with it. I'm still a Penn guy, been one for years, but that Lews sure is a nice reel.

It's got plenty of line.
I like 20# power pro on my spinning reels, casts a little easier than the 30 does with fewer wind knots. To each his own though.
