I got finally was able to raise enough scratch to get a kayak. Its not hard plastic like most of them. As you can see below it is inflatable. I decided to go with the inflatable primarily because of the space issue. As you can see it takes up most of my living room and part of the dining room so it will be nice to be able to tuck it back into the bag and into the closet I am super excited to get out there on the water. Today's mission: take it out and turn it over. Gotta make sure i can get my fat butt back in the boat. grin

The accessory mounting rail. Expect to see a FF attached to this soon.

The stern "skeg". It has two aluminum rails that are supposed to improve tracking a lot.

Welcome to the crew! I look forward to your report... I've always wondered what it would be like to be out in one of those. When I travelled a lot for my job (previous job), I thought about getting a foldable canoe or an inflatable.

Good idea to practice reentry first!

That will be a heck of alot easier to transport than a hard plastic one. Congrats.

Well I took it out this afternoonon to LL since I live so close.(about 150 yds away). Jet skis and PBs were everywhere so I stayed close to the shore. Paddled for about 2 hours jumping out several times and practicing reentry.
It was very stable. I honestly had trouble getting the thing to turn over. The yak is self bailing so there was some water in the cockpit but it was well below seat level.
As far a speed goes it is definitely closer to the tortoise than the hare. But the true test will come when I am headed out with some hard shell kayaks.

Overall I am extremely pleased. I am looking forward to figuring out creative ways to rig it.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to slime it.

Good to hear the maiden voyage went well! Power boats and jet skis will always be an issue on weekends unless your in a creek or neighborhood pond. Alot of people just dont seem to care about anybody or anything else but their good time. I get tailed all the time by bassboats while fishing shore lines.

Living that close to a major lake you are gunna have a ball. If i lived that close id just take my pillow and alarm clock out and live on my kayak. Lol good luck getting your first fish in it!

I am right next to Lake Park. I walk across the disc golf course and hit the water.

Well I took it out this morning. I decided to go hit up a pond that is fairly close instead of the big lake since the weather was threatening. I saw a couple fish get pulled out of the pond but was unsuccessful in doing so my self. The water was perfectly clear. I watched a couple small bass follow my bait almost to the boat but they didn't seem to want to eat it.
Overall still a great morning. I can't wait to get it out there again and catch something this time.
