I know I must sound like a broken record but Old Coach and I did have another 100+ fish day each on RC. The morning started out slow and Rob was getting a little frustrated as we could not find much. We were getting a bunch of yellows but not much else. Cruised around Ferguson (you know Bob H. the one I called Robertson point) for a while and didn't mark much. Finally the top water frenzy started and we began catching sandies. Some on top water, some on slabs, some on popping cork. They were not as oraganzied as the last time and smaller random schools were hard to chase, but we were catching fish and having fun. That died down and we went back to Ferguson and started slabbing up some bigger fish. That died down and Rob (He always has a good idea) decided to try the North bank straight across from Ferguson. We fished in 10-15 fow and caught fish till we were physically tired. Seems that if they are busting top they want a slab horizontal, if not they will take it vertical. Thanks Coach for another memorable trip.

Rob with a nice double

Not one hybrid. I think you need to live bait or troll to get hyb's, we were doing neither.

Good report. Is anyone having problems putting due to low water. Are all the ramps still open?

There are quite a few top water action reports from RC... I'm guessing RC doesn't have as much boat traffics as other lake?

The pursuit (where are the fish), rigs design and setup, scouting, the awesome feeling of casting your rigs 100+ yards out, the total focus on the fish and the elements, the outdoors... the total exhaustion at the end of your fishing day,... the cooler full of fish to bring home... Yeah, I'm going to miss bank fishing!

Launching is still available at Oak Cove and Fisherman's Point. Best guess is that Oak Cove is still usable for a couple of weeks. Fisherman's Point is good to go for a month. Rumor is that Oak Cove will not dredge the channel so they will close the ramp. Owners of Fisherman's Point say they will spend the money ($10,000 plus) to dredge the boat ramp and channel. Only one vehicle at a time is launching now.

Top water bite went downhill this Weekend as most folks were catching a handful of small fish and several at the ramp got zeroed. Literally changed overnite as early and mid week was a good bite and then got tough.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

Royce I guess you saying rumor is right. I work out of oak cove and Jerry said he is going to dredge. It is tight right now but I run a 24' skeeter bay with 300hp and its been fine. The ramp at fisherman point is VERY steep. But I will tell you that it has plenty of water.

Fishing Frank - we had no problem putting in a Century CC at Oak Cove.

Fishin-Ren: The boat traffic is minimal and very few jet skis or pleasure boats. The fishing boats for the most part play well together.

Allen,

Is Jerry at Oak Cove going to dredge? Couldn't understand if you were saying rumor was right/wrong?

Thanks!

I would like to have the broken record if it's playing the same 100+ fish song a day! Well done Steve Strasemeier

Do you know what dirty sox smells like?

Yes Jerry is going to do what ever is needed to keep the ramp open. As I said it is tight right now but still useable.
