My first and only bowfin was at Pines two summers back. These monsters fight like nothing else in the water. Did not know what the heck it was till it surfaced. Wish we had more where I am from and I would target them exclusively.

They are a fun fighting fish! I've never caught one that big. Biggest I ever got was 12 incher. I've noticed they are much more colorful when they are bigger. Nasty teeth.

I believe there are some in an overflow pond near me. What would be the best way to fish for them?

Well I've caught some on spinnerbaits but this one was off of a small minnow. I would not know how to specifically target them. Good question. I've got research to do.

Caught mine on a plastic lizard. The lizard did not look so hot afterwards haha. Can't believe it did not snap my 10 lb mono. The fish was maybe 6 pounds. Any bass lure will catch em, if you can find em. I have also heard cut and live bluegill works good.
