I remember the Bass Champs decision to switch to a 3 fish limit being controversial, both publically and privately.
Has your stance changed over the course of the fishing season? How did you feel about the decision when it was announced? How do you feel now?
Looking over the results from the tournaments in North Texas and East Texas (I assume these two areas make up the majority of this board), only 1 tournament winner had big bass out of the 10 winners. Todd and Todd won on Tawakoni with a 7 as big bass and a 3.75 average with their other two. I think we can agree that they had a pretty consistent day.
I think that was one of the arguments against the change; a team could get lucky with one big fish.
I am interested to hear your thoughts.

personally I would be good with a 3 limit. this lets ya concentrate on chasin the big ones and not so much on "just get 5" then cull.
it also should help mortality some with fewer kept in the wells all day and putting all the extra stess on them.
one format I always thought would be fun just for the heck of it is have a one fish big bass wins type, go the full 8 hrs and really put the pressure on everyone to find the hawgs. this would be everyone against everyone not team format but still let teams fish.

They probably need to go to a one or two fish limit. A lot of people this year didn't get a three fish limit. It's all about making people feel good inside and come back and spend their entry again next time trying to catch 3.

If you want to make everyone happy, have a five fish limit February through May. Have the three fish limit in june, july august, and September. Go back to five in October.

It looked like to me that the people that had a big bass weight in the results were more near the top in the standings as you would expect in a 3 fish limit. We didn't fish because we aren't in favor of it for every tournament. The only time it makes sense to me is Falcon as they have done before. I think the entries were about the same this year so it didn't help or hurt that aspect of it and that probably was the driving force behind the change.

Guys first and foremost Basschamps is a business... They have to do what majority of us fisherman want... If it means going to a 2 fish tournament and thats what majority wanted then they will change that because its a business. So if you are selling cars, hot dogs, or whatever and you do and want to do better you will change too. Unfortunately there will be people who dont like it but its what the majority wants... Sameway with our President I will tell you I didnt vote for him but majority did... So bass champs went to a 3 fish limit this year and i can say i was not all for it at all..... But after fishing all year i can say i now see why they did it and see that it has helped there business and i would like to say they have done a great job..... Keep up the great work.

I agree they were doing it to draw more teams. I compared the five 2012 North tourneys participation with the 2013 North. 2012 drew 851 teams in five tourneys and 2013 drew 855 teams. Did not matter in the North if it was five fish or three fish.

I seem to suck whether it be 3 or 5 so didn't make a difference for me.

I would still prefer a 5 fish limit. Even if meant I lost. Puts more luck into it with 3, which I guess is what keeps some coming back for more.

They probably should go to 2 because all the 5 fish limits and the heavy tournament presure has caused most , except for a few , to not be able to catch even 1 decent fish - those days are gone when at least 30 % caught good fish , -too many tournaments with too many fish dieing has created the need for less fish -3 is great and less tournaments being held with the ones held putting the fish first ,not the dollar would change a lot

If around 20lbs 5 fish is winning, then I'm fine with 5 fish limits.
Its lakes like falcon where the winning team can't hardly fit all five of their fish in the Livewell it causes a problem.
Also the lack of proper Livewell maintanance is more responsible for killing fish than putting them in a Livewell.
If you have properly aireated Livewells and take good care of the water it's not going to hurt the fish.
