I sincerely doubt if 1/2 ounce Jig would be over the maximum weight of such an expensive rod. flag

Just got the Veritas paired up with the new Revo S from the gf for my birthday....wish I didn't stumble onto this thread. No issues yet with plenty of agressive casts/hook sets. Now I'm gonna have to baby it.

I just got in a 7'3" veritas that I ordered. I'm a little worried now that I've seen this. I'll post back if I have any problems.

I have had two 7'3 vendettas and I love them, my favorite trap rod ever. never had an issue. I also have had a veritas 7'6 heavy rod that I have had several years but dont use it often, but have caught fish on it and no problem. Just bought a winch series 7'6mh. Only rod I have ever broke was an h2o express.

Some people love them and haven't had problems with them. I did buy two of them a few weeks ago but returned them the next day right behind 2 that were broken being returned by the guy in front of me. They asked "What's wrong with them?"... I said,"I don't want that to happen and can't afford to loose the big one!"

From having read a dozen of these threads before, it seems to me like if you make it through the first few fishing trips in good shape, you'll be fine. I think maybe they do something wrong when they're shipping these out that's causing weak spots on the rod or something, because it obviously doesn't happen with all of them.

I heard about that issue a few years back but nothing recent. I love mine and have had no issues.

Anyone still having issues on the veritas? I snapped my 6'10" bucoo micro guide today on a hook set. Took it back to academy and they gave me full price store credit. $129.99

Prob is academy no longer carries bucoo's. So I'm stuck with their rod selection, which is kinda getting bad. I think they might be moving towards only carrying all star rods very soon.

So question is...what is the best rod I can get at academy? Veritas at $99?

I like mine I have 4. But I did brake the 7'3" fat rod first day. But I still like them I would recommend one or more.I do set the hook hard . I like the micro guide series. And I broke a carbonlite rod the other day and it was brand new. Pulling a fish out of the water. But that carbonlite is so lite with my lews tournament speed spools.

As the sport continues to grow so rapidly. I think companies are mass producing and not making them as well as they used to. They only care about the bottom line. The more rods break the more money they make.

Have had several Veritas rods and I like mine just fine. I agree that the eyes should be better. I have broken one of the winch series but it probably was my fault. Remember that these are 100 bucks! For 100 bucks they are a great value. I took the rod I bought back to where I bought it with proof of puchase and they replaced it. I think that the 7-6 winch rod is a nice rod for DD22 XD 6 cranking. Hard to beat for 100 bucks.

I currently have 3. I like all of them. I broke one last year, however, it was totally my fault, trying to get a crankbait unhung, stuck rod in water, and broke tip. Duh.

I broke a Veritas casting it in my yard, before ever even fishing with it. POS.

However, I've had great luck with the vendettas and like feel much better too.

I bought one at academy last year. Snapped it 6 inches from the tip on a hook set. I got the bass in the boat. Lil one pounder. I took it back to academy and got my money back. Then threw a 50 dollar bill with the hundred and ordered me a duckett macro magic from tackle warehouse. Love the duckett. All my reels but maybe 3 are garcias and couldn't be happier. But i dont think i will ever by a Garcia rod again.

I had a Falcon Break on the cast one time, only rod I have Broken so far. When the rod was laying on the passenger side of the boat and rod box cover was opened on it and pinched it between the cover and boat. next cast if fell in half 200 bucks gone instantly. I am 100 percent more careful now.
