Decided to make a quick trip out and wet lines for a couple of hours, got reminded why I love fishing and other fisherman sometimes.
This not a report about us catching any big cats but I think a lot of you guys may like this.
We launched just before dark, shad was in pretty thick between 8-15 FOW. Was able to net plenty plus one 12 incher.
(I know thats not huge by BDDD standards, but it was big)
Was only out there till 10:30 or so, caught 4 nice eater channels on smallish whole shad, that what they wanted last night, we caught nothing on any of the cut bait, perch or shad.
When it was time to come in we saw a family that had been bankfishing when we left and they were still there.
We didn't really want to clean any fish so we offered them to these folks and they seemed glad to get them, and the 7ish year old boy was real excited that we had actually caught some fish.
There were also what looked like a MOM and Dad and teenage son that had just pulled up as we were loading the boat and the lady started throwing a cast net right after they unloaded their stuff was not having a good cast net night.
She was saying they had just bought the net and never knew how to throw it. I offered to help if they wanted and my buddy took over cause he doesn't put the net in his mouth and she didn't want to learn my way. I was throwing at the same time just to help bait them up and the kids we gave the fish to were helping pick up the shad as I dropped them out of the net, loved seeing that excitement from the youngsters simply about picking up shad.
next thing I know my buddy had went to the truck and got a nice shimono spinning rig that he had rebuilt and painted and gave it to young boy. He was so excited and saying he had never had anything like it!
Just thought I would pass this along, I got a lot more out of this two hour fishing trip than just the fishing.
Here is a pic of the shad.

And here is picture of a goat, cause I like goats.
