Angler of the year because the classic is once but with AOTY means you were good all year.

Classic. Imagine the endorsements that may come with being the champion! I think more people remember the Bassmaster Classic champion for the past few years versus the AOTY. Plus think of it like winning the respective league/association's championship game versus being named MVP for that season.

Classic. You can win AOY and never win a tournament. You can probably win it without a top 5.

(Please skip to 27 minute mark) In my opinion I think Roland explains it perfectly in this clip! Also Lynn Dollar (the uploader) has a bunch of old bassmaster classic and tournament videos on his youtube channel if you want to watch them  watch on my friends

for most of us getting to the Classic would probably be easier through the Bass Fed Nation or Opens than quailfying for the Elites and then getting there that way. Which is skill and luck.

Classic or Forest Wood Cup. There is no higher honor in bass fishing than these two events. Winning either of these would make your career.

Crazy to see the changes in the sport, sponsors, TV production etc. thanks for sharing. The Classic is definitely the pinnacle.
