Looking at the TFF Whites - Hybrids - Striper Forum, you would think that the lakes that have received the most Hybrid Striped Bass Stocking over the last 5 years would be the lakes always talked about on the Forum. Ray Hubbard Richland Chambers Tawakoni Lewisville Cedar Creek Well, I have compiled a list from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Excel spreadsheed last 5 Years. . The results may shock you. the number one lake stocked over the last 5 years by the Texas Parks and Wildlife is Richland Chambers with 2,788,849 This may really shock you but the number two lake, one that is rarely talked about is Lake Belton 2,578,308 too many pot lickers and lurkers What is this site for if not to share knowledge, camaraderie, love of fishing. Who hasn't learned from an old salt? Isn't it our responsibility to pass that knowledge down to the younger generation. I'm not saying that anyone should give up their favorite spots. I have lived in Belton for over 7 years, both kids went to middle and high school, oldest graduated from UMHB, youngest is at Temple College. I plan to stay here for the rest of my life. I have served my country for the last 30 years. I have sat on this beautiful lake untold hours, I am so grateful to the few that have seen the passion in my eyes, not just for fishing but for being out in nature. My question is when do I or others like me fit in or belong to this group. Is it pot licking to ask a question here or there? How did you learn the techniques you use today? Or is this a closed fraternity? Why is this you ask, It seems there is a small group of local anglers on Lake Belton that are determined to make any attempt to publish or encourage anglers to come to our lake and experience some of the States best Hybrid Fishing. I myself have fallen victim from these internet police and they/him publicly announced that I did not know what I am doing and that I should stay silent on the forum about the fishing on Beautiful Belton Lake. And just this last week, this self appointed lake police decided to drive his boat through a group of 4 Guide out on a corporate fishing trip. He passed the nose of my boat at full throttle about 35 MPH less than 20 feet off my bow. Prior to him coming thru most of the guides clients were getting bit and catching fish, but as you all know, you don't run your motor thru a school of feeding fish, as to be expected these fish disappeared. The next day I ran into this self appointed lake patrol and asked what I had done to upset him, his response "you are running our lake by bringing 30 anglers to our lake" he then continued to make abusing statements about my wife. It was all I could do to contain myself, but I will wait until he steps over the line, before I take any action. As for the numbers they are on the Texas Parks and Wildlife site, if you want to confirm them, and I do not make any claim to be a biologist and know the survival rates of Fingerlings over Fry, I just looked at the total numbers. By the way, number three was Lewisville, then Ray Hubbard and finishing out the list of lakes that have received over 2 million Hybrids over the past 5 years is Bardwell.

EVERYONE GO TO BELTON!!One to catch some good Hybrids and Two to turn the self appointed lake guy into the TPWD ( Game warden who is a real law officer ) for speeding within 100 feet of another boat. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW!!. Get his TX boat numbers take a pic and turn him in .

I read that post the other day and almost chimed in. There were at least 3 guys in a short period of time that chimed in on the problem. I admit that even though I never fished Belton and likely never will, I enjoyed reading the BB threads. I just cant get enough fishing info and in my experience you can still learn something about your own lake from reading posts of other lakes. The thing I found interesting was your post seemed to offer the best solution to help on that lake if there was no readily available information on the forum. A quick click on your link showed daily reports of obviously quality fishing. As stated on this board time after time the best way to learn a lake is to hire a guide, someone that is on the lake day in and day out. If you cant afford a full trip by yourself call them and see if they have any clients that would want to split or put out some inquiries on this site. Heck, I've had guides just offer reduced rates solo trips on off days when they were just planning on scouting which is even better. Regretfully, my home lake isn't in the top five stocked and we don't have any full time guides, I guess that's why I cant catch any fish. I drive to Tawakoni and I guess they are not in the top 5 either so might have to start heading to Belton. Great website and great post. You should give some reports in this section sometime to help get the word out about Belton. Sorry about your fellow local anglers. Don't know if I would even want to be in a fraternity with a "brother" that runs his mouth about another man's wife.

I use the TPWD stocking page a lot but never thought to compare lakes. Great information... That is sad when someone makes themselves the self appointed lake authority. Personally I've been fishing Hubbard over 30-years. After many requests finally joined the Forum a couple years ago. I will gladly admit the old dog has learned some new tricks and hopefully I have shared the wealth and advice when other people post questions. We have a great group of guys on Hubbard and you may have heard we formed the RHSA last year (Ray Hubbard Sportsmen Association). Just the other day we had 45,000 fingerling Hybrids delivered that the club purchased and TPWD placed them all in the lake. One of the TPWD officers told us they stocked Hubbard with 3-million fry recently! Check out the video under the title RHSA Stock O' Palooza Carson on our team posted of the stocking. BTW we welcome everyone locally into our club. We worked hard to raise the money and will hopefully stock each year and supplement what the State stocks. Keith is a good friend. We'd love to come visit Belton sometime and you are more than welcome to come fish Hubbard with us. Or come to one of our fundraisers. Oh TPWD told us the fingerlings average a 50% survival rate and the fry I believe he said 25%. Happy Fishing....

ATM97, I too wanted to chime in with a much more detailed response like the one I have made now. I decided that I will begin to start post like the other guides from the other great Hybrid lakes and I will add in some detail which will help the local anglers have more success on our great lake. As once quoted if a great movie (sorta), "we can no longer live in a land (internet) of persecution, we must rise above and once again have our voices heard" on Belton Lake. Looking forward to writing and helping the Belton Lake crew that are intrested in how to catch fish on Belton Lake.

Dragmaster, keep on keeping on. No one person owns any lake, we have one on Hubbard also. Belton Is not that far from Dallas and a lot of the Hubbard guys live on the south side which is even closer. Who know there may be a Hubbard invasion there one weekend. Good luck dude.

All the ramps are open and in good shape, just no docks floating. The lake is only 8 foot low so our ramps will be good for a good long while.
