All I can say is " WOW " Thats the biggest red ear I have ever seen.. Nice fish !
I swear I caught so many fish that the water level went down!

Great Bluegill! This is the redear I caught Saturday (12"). Please note the "red ear".  The world record redear is over 5 lbs, caught in Arizona. record redear

the fish looks to be a female red ear to me ....
whatever the species its a whopper ....

Great fish! With the exception of the color on the ear that looks in every other way like a red ear to me; body shape, mouth, body coloration/pattern. Perhaps its lost its pigment in old age or just been a little different from birth? Females do exhibit less/duller colors and if you look at picks of state records many of the largest are loosing their ear color. Could of course be a hybrid.
