First of all, Hola. I was a long-time lurker on the old lewisvillefishingforum.com but it seems that place has succumb to spam bots. I'm glad to be here.

I did not know where to post this because I'm not a tuber or a yakker. But I recently bought a Coleman Scanoe for floating with my young kids or fishing buddy.

I live in Flower Mound right between Lake Lewisville and Lake Grapevine.
I am looking for spots around either that I can easily drop the canoe in some calm waters. It's hard to find anything very deep right now, and if I get into the main waters, the waves push me around too much.

It is square stern and I put a little 35# trolling motor on it to help moving it, but having a launch point as close as possible to the cove or creek or whatever is still important.

I have lived around Lake Lewisville most of my life so I know the area pretty well.

Caught a few fish last weekend launching in Shady Shores and putting around the shore till I find a cove. But those were hardly more than 3' deep.

My next couple ideas are launching at Old Alton Bridge and floating down to the lake, and the other is to launch at the Greenbelt there on the east side of Denton (off 380) and floating between L Lewisville and Ray Roberts.

Any of you yak paddlers live around the area and would like to give me some canoe launch ideas?

If you Google map Westlake park on lake Lewisville, you can put in by the cut, that area holds sand bass early in the morning, but any other time it becomes pretty baron

Try lake park on weeknights about 1 hour before dark. There's a small island near the dam. That's where I would put in. You can get back in the cove or paddle out a bit and you may get into some hybrids.

Welcome. There are others here who own canoes as well.

The float from Old Alton Bridge to LL is doable. Would really be great to do during the white/hybrid run.

Going from 380GB to RR is probably not so easy. At current level, you will likely have some areas you can't TM through and possibly some log jams to drag over. If anything, I would try a downstream run from 428 down to 380 as a trial before going all the way to 455.

I hit the greenbelt frequently. There are some log jams north of 428, but I am pretty sure from 428 to the lake is open. I usually put in on 380 and go north to fish for cats. The cut is probably your best bet as far as the lake goes.

No doubt about the boat traffic.

I have been putting in down near Hickory Creek at the Sycamore bend boat ramp but have not had much luck. I am going to try Grapevine and put in at Murrell park ramp early Saturday morning if anyone wants to join us.

The shore is pretty wavy near the entrance. I launched from the little marina there at the north end past the bike trails. There is some calm waters there in the twin coves area.

My kids and I paddled around the marina some but I didnt have my poles with me.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions
