I love fishing Senkos. I fish them weightless, texas rigged 90% of the time. I have tried wacky but hate the feel of the bait in the water and don't seem to have much luck- probably because I have no confidence with wacky rigged. What am I missing? How are most of you fishing Senkos?

I fish a senko weightless, texas-rigged. Once the head is too torn up to stay on the hook I'll hook it wacky for a few casts.

I have total confidence in them too. I think fish will hit them equally fished wacky or TX...either way let it fall on a slack line to get the wobble....but I get most of my bites almost immediately. I like it that when TX rigged and you pitch it at something like reed beds it will glide 2-3' deeper into the structure...it wouldn't do that rigged wacky.

bottom line to me is TX rig is too much better so I see no reason to fish it wacky.

The Key Words are :"hate the feel of the bait in the water". If you are FEELING the Wacky Senko then you are probably fishing it TOO FAST. If you drag it too much then you are loosing the most effective way to fish it. Just cast it out, let it fall, watch your line, when it hits bottom reel it back to the boat. Make your next cast. If you need it to fall faster then put a small finishing Nail in the head or the tail or even try the weighted Wacky hooks that look like a crappie jig on steroids. Remember let it fall and don't reel as much.
A good hook to help catch the fish when you fish with a slack line is the Daiichi wacky circle hook. You don't have to feel the fish and they hook themselves.

^^ Good advice there. I don't work it at all. It was designed to work itself. I make one cast at a likely area and let it sink. When it touches bottom, I reel it back in and cast again. I like t-rigging it on ledges, cliffs, creek drop offs. Wacky in lily pads and on points or humps.

I like both. Wacky rig I like to let it fall for 3-5 seconds give it a twitch and repeat.

I know what you mean about the feel.

Best hook on the market for weighted wacky hook IMO.

Bass Pro has a similar hook that is less expensive. This is what I use when fun fishing.

What you are missing is the same thing 99% of everyone that has ever fished a wacky rigged SENKO or ever will fish one will miss unless they happen to read this. Every authentic SENKO has a backbone! Take one by the nose and hold it in a vertical position. Now check out the tail. It has a bend or deflection in one direction. Then slowly spin the SENKO and watch the tail to establish the backbone. Now wacky hook a #1 Octopus mid way under the backbone. This will allow your SENKO to shimmer and shake on slack line during decent. The bait was designed to work by itself but knowing how to help unleash its magical powers will help give you the confidence and patience you need to fish it.

I tend to fish a wacky worm in shallowbrush and timber. Then tx rig everywhere else.

Wacky or t rig, I get most of my bites when they pick it up off the bottom, after leaving it there a few seconds. The dead stick approach is awesome.
