My Grandfather used to trot ling for carp in Lake Grapevine. He made his last bait just before he died in July of 1976. I was at his house the other day and found his rigged trotline so I took some of the bait. I tried it later that day for fun and tied it to my line and pitched it in. about 45 min. later I got an hit and caught a carp. I guess 37 year old bait can still work.

Nice,I know exactly what you feel.I have some homemade weights my grandpa made.I keep in tackle box so he's with me fishing but only use if I know I wont get hung up and loose them.

That's awesome. I have an OLD video of my grandpa and great uncle teaching us how to make hoop nets (back when it was legal). They're still hanging above the door at the old camp. Cool vid to watch, those old timers knew how to get things done.
