Just curious what y'all think about his tactics for big stripers...

The pursuit (where are the fish), rigs design and setup, scouting, the awesome feeling of casting your rigs 100+ yards out, the total focus on the fish and the elements, the outdoors... the total exhaustion at the end of your fishing day,... the cooler full of fish to bring home... Yeah, I'm going to miss bank fishing!

Would be the same in the river in slack water or Eddies vs. tides.Makes sense.Could even apply some of his theroy to lake fishing.

I agree. I watched his interview series, I can say that with the limited experiences that I have I could see a lot of what he said apply to lake big fish, such as stripers and blue catfish... All of my big catches came on the same water conditions as he described.

Thanks for sharing this Ren! I watched all three parts and love it! This man has been in countless battles and shares great info! He is spot on. My catch and release state record, the 42" striped bass was on June 4th, when the striped bass finish spanwing. On a 12 gizard shad. That fish was with guide Shane Davies, FYI. smile

Currently I am just out to catch a few fish for relaxation and havent really concentrate on catching lonesome big fish yet. But maybe one day smile

You're welcome Todd, and congrats on your C&R state record! I hardly had time to fish any more, just browsing... I found this video by accident from clicking on the link that was posted on TFF... thought it was interesting to share with everyone... cheers

Alberto is a true master of the sport and has been one of my most influential mentors over the last 3 decades. azn

I stay in touch with him regularly as a FB friend just to keep up with his epic adventures. The guy is also one heck of a photographer, as well.

He has a great line up of serious gear for serious anglers called Tactical Anglers, Inc. http://www.tacticalanglers.com/ thumb

interesting fact... biggest animals in the sea, the blue whales eat the tiny krill... so too big cow stripers like to scavenge small bits and pieces of bait fish left by the school of aggressive young'uns feeding frenzy... abundant and easy meals without having to spend so much energy dragging their large body through the water column at relatively high speed chasing darting bait fish... make sense to me, whether in the ocean or big lakes, its about relative speed and energy spend to catch their meals... less energy out and more food in = big fish. Those are just one of variables in the hunt for big fish equation,... Of course, Alberto Knie was talking about Ocean fishing where big fish reproduce naturally... I hope he doesn't talk too specific about landlock fresh water big stripers...then what are there to challenge the weekend warriors with money to burn on gas and latest and coolest electronics on their 50k boats if the big fish are fished out of area lakes? rolfmao

Hello Fishin_Ren, Thanks for bringing this fishing forum to my attention. I just became a new member, and this is my very first post! smile

I am pleased that many of you enjoyed The Hunt for Trophy Bass YouTube video. I also like to include the importance of the moon phase (my preference is around the new moon), Tides (Fish near the slack water phases) and the importance of understanding the surrounding / available natural baitfish. Let's not forget the presentation... Keep it as natural as possible. wink
