I currently have an OK prowler trident 13 angler. It is a great river camping boat and an excellent fishing boat. My only complaint is that it is lime green (can't duck hunt out of it) and I don't have room to take my 50 lb retriever with me on camping trips. I am thinking about switching to a boat that can hold my dog and a little more camping gear. I think an ultimate 14.5 would fit the bill. Can anyone think of a boat that would fit my current needs better than an ultimate? Thanks.

Ride 135 would work, but the ultimate is nice. A commander would work well too.

If you're thinking Ultimate, why not just jump up to a canoe? In the end, having my OT Camper 16 helped in my decision to replace my ultimate with a SOT. Your preferences may be different, but I know that I can load more than I'd want in my OT. Of course, being 16' long doesn't hurt either!

I am getting rid of my ultimate, main reason is I would tend to carry too much stuff with it and even loaded down I liked the way it paddled. Any other SOT would have the same issue with the dog limiting access to below deck makes it difficult for carrying the dog. The commander from wilderness and ranger from malibu also would fit the bill. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...sal#Post8913428

i have had a native ultimate since they came out. it has been a great yak for all my needs. I keep thinking i'm going to sell it and buy one of the newer yaks on the market like a jackson or PA or something. but at the end of the day the Ultimate has been able to do everything i want it to with no complaints. Here's a short video of it running the devils river loaded down with gear for a 4 day trip. Ultimate running the devils

I'm with Fish ZoMbiE, After seeing and researching the NuCanoe, I'm going to order one in the next two weeks. A friend I told has already ordered his. The one advantage I like is being able to stand up and fish or hunt, plus it's rated for 650 lbs.(12 foot model).
I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.
