I usually fish on the Oklahoma side both right and left side of 377 bridge. They are unmarked spots and through rough territory, u need a truck usually to get in. After the 377 bridge a mile or so down there is a "white store" and a street on the left that takes u all the way down thru a couple of trails that lead to the bank.

Thanks for the info. I have a 4x4 Tundra. I may try that out next time. Is there enough bank to put out some lawn chairs and not be in the weeds?

Jumpshot and I fish the same area. It's called Fobb Bottom. It's a hunting ground with some farm land. You take that road all the way and you'll see cutoff roads all throughout the area. I prefer to stick to the left side. It'll take you around to the beach in front of the bridge. Lots of good banking spots along that beach. You can camp out there, too. Pitch a tent, set up a campfire, stake some poles and enjoy yourself. Problem is there's a ton of trash on the beaches. So please if you go there clean up after yourself. It's getting terrible. I ALWAYS fill up a trash at or two of other people's trash when I leave.

Anyways, give that area a try. My PB in my sig was caught there. Let us know how you do.

I went Few weeks ago there is plenty of room to set up tent, park ur car right next to you and set up your lay out...only problem is water level is up to high its right next to the bank so not much shoreline to fish...you may have to search for a spot with the most shortline. fyi...fishing was real bad when we went, barely caught decent sized ghost minnows, no shad. water temp was hot and no wind. GOOD LUCK!

Yea ur exactly on the same area...its as heavily fished area during season. Wish they had trash bins. Right now i know its very slow. Have u fished the right side of 377 bridge? they have like 3 trails along that side. Ive had more luck over there when the fish were biting harder. That side gets a better south hitting wind than the other side which is a little more enclosed...we mainly night fish what do you do?

I think you mean let water out. If you go the corp web site it will show the elevation and gate settings. Lakes turn over in the fall when the surface water cools and becomes heavier than the water below. In the summer they stratify and form a thermocline. I do not think golden algae is a problem this time of year I think it is low oxygen levels created by heat and fertilizers coming down stream with the rains.

If you go straight at the crossroad there's a spot I call the Big Tree. It's my favorite spot. I always fish at night when I go there. Shad is easier to catch on the Texas side. I'll shoot you a PM next time I plan to go if you want to hang out.

I live in Midland and only get to fish maybe once a month at best. It's usually during the week. We'll see how it goes.

Went up to Grandpappy's Marina and got skunked out again (on decent size stripers). I GOTTA find a new spot and bank fisherman friendly spot, I don't mind trekking but the need to find a decent parking spot takes precedence due to the new truck.
I did hook into small bait fish and even had a decent size catfish hit my rooster tails

We had a major fish kill on a pond out at my mother-in-laws place a few days ago. She is east of 205 going to Rockwall on Anna Cade road. We recently had several days of unusually cool and cloudy weather. This causes the phytoplankton to consume more O2 than they produce just like they do at night. The blooms can die off rapidly in these conditions, which in turn causes an increase in oxygen consuming bacteria that are active in the decay event. Since most of the oxygen in the water is a product of the phytoplankton you have a real problem on your hands. Of course the hot water temps exacerbate the issue as does excessive nutrient load from runoff.

But Hey! Take heart! the Zebra Mussel is gonna take care of the excess algae!...........errr........right? hammer

Hey Guys, what is the water depth fishing from the bank on the north side, both close in and within reasonable casting distance. Is there any areas with much in the way of structure or rocks/dropoffs etc? I figure the shallow flats are good at night with the incoming winds.
