Man it is hard to sleep after reading about this. My prays and condolences to those who lost a loved one. I pray that the son makes a full recovery. oldfield's interview talking about there was no doubt Dad did everyhing he could to protect his son really heart breaking and heroic at the sametime. Only been in Plano for 3 years and fished fork a dozen times. How do these accidents happen most of the time on fork? Definitely going to get one of those auto inflate pfds so I never have to take it off. I have a 2 year old son who goes to the lake with me and this just scares me about how dangerous it can be on the water. Only God can comfort someone in times like this and I pray the families receive some relief from all the grief and sadness.

Here's the latest update I received on Joseph:
Joseph was transferred via ambulance to a Baylor Pediatric rehab facility this morning and begins at least 2 weeks of rehabilitation which will be quite thorough and intensive.
Today Becca said they had many interviews and evaluations. They have a pediatric neuro-psychiatrist, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy which includes eating skills and potentially behavioral therapy.
Becca & Joseph can receive cards and letters at the following address.
Joseph Wilcox, Room 244 Our Children's House at Baylor 3301 Swiss Ave. Dallas, TX 75204
He is walking to and from the bathroom now without assisstance (but someone nearby) and has taken several walks with Becca.
There is a weekly meeting on Tuesdays at which all the therapists & doctors evaluate the progress of each child and evaluate the treatment plan. After that meeting next week, Becca will have a much better idea about the prognosis and plan.

Outstanding news!!! Richie thank you so much for the update. As both a father and a Grandfather my heart hurts every time I read anything about this tragedy/blessing. I hope someone has taken a laptop to the hospital so that Joseph can see just how important he is to the TFF family and that he is our inspiration. God please continue to Bless him with physical as well as emotional healing.
Teach a man to fish and he will figure out how to lie on his own!
Do I look WORRIED?

Update on Joseph July 13th:
Joseph is doing really well in the new hospital.
Last night he told Becca that if he tried to sleep in the daytime to wake him up no matter how much he complained because he wants to sleep well at night. Thursday was mostly evaluation by various therapists. Thursday night the Neurophsychiatrist prescribed something for anxiety and on Friday he was much more calm and in control and cooperative during his therapy sessions.
He receives Speech, Occupational & Physical therapy sessions twice each day for 30 minutes. He also receives neuropsychiatry therapy once per day.
When I arrived around 2pm yesterday to visit and bring Becca lunch I was immediately struck by his demeanor. It was like seeing a different child. He was sitting on the side of the bed doing a follow up with one of the neuologist. When they left he immediately got up and walked to the bathroom and told me he didnt need anyone to help him. He closed the door, turned on the light, did his business, came out and walked back to the edge of the bed and sat down.
He began to tell me that he had a new wheelchair and it was much better than the one at the other hospital. Later he walked to the wheelchair to show me how he could maneuver it.
Another time he walked to the refrigerator, which is down the hall, to get some chocolate milk. He must wear a safety belt which someone holds when he is outside the room walking and he didnt complain about it at all.
Another time he wanted to go outside, so he used his wheelchair to walk clear to the elevator and down to the first floor and out to a play area where we sat and talked and he and Becca tried to make baskets for a while in a short basketball goal while sitting.
Becca said that for lunch on friday he wanted chicken nuggets from Chic-Fil-A and he ate all his nuggets and Becca's nuggets and an order of french fries. For breakfast this morning he ate 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, a bowl of cereal and a carton of milk.
It is very exciting to see the improvement, especially in his anxiety level. As the afternoon turned to evening you could tell that the anxiety medication was wearing off (it is once each day in the evening) and he began to talk rapidly and repetitvely like he did without the medication.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support,
Willie, Kathy & Becca & Joseph
P.S. QUOTE OF THE DAY Jo: "Mom, turn on the light, come close, and look at my face. This is going to sound silly, but I need you to look at my eyes so you know I am serious!..How many tacos do you think Taco Bell sells in a day?" FYI, the answer (per google) is 5 million tacos!
