 what did i catch

I was surf fishing and i ran out of bait so grab my cast net go on top of a rock and start looking for mullet or any bait fish when i saw some mullets swiming for there life so I trow it i decide to relase what ever was chasing them when i pull the cast net there was a fish that had a body like a alligator gar and a cat fish head with 2 whiskers i open its mouth and saw it was fill with teeths i garb it whiskers it allso had teeth i dint have my phone so i dint have a pic so i look for all saltwater fish in the gulf of mexico and no website had no fish that look like what i cought any idea wut fish is ot

Sounds like a bowfin, but I never heard of them in saltwater.

i know. i dont keep no game fish i catch with a cast net only bait fish the only time i hade to trow it at game fish was when there was a pool of water that was around rocks were alot of kids swim becuse there were 2 and a 3 feet black tip shark in it but i dint keep them.

it kind of dose look like it but it had its lips then its whiskers were beside its lips and its whiskers had teeth
