Ok it wasn't that hard. I had to cancel my trip to colorado next week in order to get emergency surgery for my cat. She wouldn't of made it without so she better be thankfull lol. Seeing as I don't have kids I guess she is about as close as it gets. So now I'm looking at headin out there September never seen colorado in the fall have always wanted to catch some of the landlocked salmon in a stream.

You made the right call. Colorado in the fall is magnificent and the trout are still looking up... Some of the best dry fly fishing of the season...

That is a dedicated cat lover. If any of you hear of someone wanting a kitten please message me. We had a kitten boom from stray cats at my office. Need a home for 3 kittens in about 5 weeks. Have found homes or shelters for 8 kittens so far.

Haha hook line I bet they do lol. But I'm still coming for them have really had some epic trips over the last 7 years only two of witch were really only good trips. One being the first trip out there ever with a Flyrod and still caught close to 60 fish over the course of that week. More recent trips fish seam to quiver at my arrival have had 60 fish days where I saw no other anglers. Has anyone here ever dishe the salmon in the rivers?

Our home is similarly situated with the felines.

I once made the mistake of asking SWTRHWMBO about a hypothetical "house is on fire" scenario with regard to saving me first or the cats. She allowed that the cats were the women and children in that scenario and that she advised me to "save yourself".

Love are a many splendored thing.

Colorado is pretty good year round but its perfect in September. Cold nights, incredible days, the fish are biting and the elk are bugling. Its as close to heaven as it gets.

Good man, our shetland sheepdog was diagnosed with lymphatic sarcoma last week. Even with chemo he will be lucky to live 2 more years. Poor guy only 6 years old. His vet bill is eye watering.

Where abouts in CO?? I grew up there (23 years of my life), and if you are headed to anywhere I am familiar with, I can give you some tips on some awesome fishing spots, awesome eateries, and possibly anything else you might be looking for laugh I am from the Greeley (northern CO) area, and know fishing spots pretty well from the Thompson Canyon, to the Poudre Canyon...

I think that the landlocked Salmon might be a tough one to find (I have heard they are there, but hard to find even if you know where to go), but I can definitely put you onto a lake where there are some lunker native cut-throats, and another spot where there are some big ol browns, brookies, and rainbows

inbox me, or I will check back here to see if you reply!

and sorry to hear about your cat, hope she gets well soon!

Never been to CO in October, but a few years back we cancelled our summer vacation plans and went in early September. It was fantastic at that time of year - way fewer people, families and tourists are back home, cooler weather, good fishing. I haven't been there in October but I suspect it could be a great trip if you head to the right area.
It may be a bit late for the higher mountain streams and lakes. Mountain weather might be getting nasty. The waters at lower elevations might be great. Browns run in the fall and if you find the right area you might catch that fall run. I'd be prepared to fish in some cold and rapidly changing weather - think blizzard conditions as worst case.
