Wanted to take my gf out and put her on some hybrids. Ran out to lake Arlington last night and caught 40+ shad. I babied them all night long. First thing when I woke up checked on them and they were doing awesome. They were extremely lively when we pulled out of the house. Pulled up to oak cove and nothing but floaters. So now I just drove an hr and a half and no bait. Ran out and trolled around a few spots I wanted to check out. We graphed some fish and anchored and dropped slabs for an hr or so and caught 10 or so. I was still trying to get situated and my gf catches a good size sandy. I get it in the boat and in the process of removing the hook, it somehow flopped out of my hand and you know the little holes that croc shoes have all over them....... Well the fish landed upside down and one of its little spikes went perfectly through the tiny little hole in my croc and stabbed my big toe. Now I'm bleeding like a stuck pig and trying to get the fish back in the water before it dies. Things calm down and I'm draining the bait tank and found a nice size thread fin still swimming. I got excited and grabbed my live bait rod. In the process of trying to hook my LAST and ONLY live piece of bait, the damn thing slips out of my hand and hits the side of the boat and splash....

I now want to load up and go to the house and call it a day. With it being the middle of the day and bait is no where to be caught we run and by some minnows. Ran back out and look at a few other spots with no luck. Figured might as well go back to the first spot since I know there are fish there. On the way there I was just taking my time maybe running 5 mph and my graph went nuts. We got anchored out and for the next 2 hrs it was game on. 2 dozen minnows and some slab action. Ran out of minnows and tired, figure we would call it a day. Good thing I have GPS cuz that is one dark lake. No trees were injured on this trip.

All in all we had a blast once we got all the bad mojo out of the boat. Will be going back for sure. Sorry about the novel.
