If you're on a remote river, get as far away from your "camp" as you can. If you're on a river with houses, hold it till you're far enough way where it's ok. I've spent more nights in a tent than I could ever count and have never hauled out a turd. If you're camping in areas where there's been so much traffic you're seeing them, you've already missed the leave no trace idea.

Just poo on the bank. cover it up and bury it good and its good to go.
No way I'm gonna haul around a bag of chit in my kayak.
people have been pooing next to rivers for thousands of years, a poo here and a poo there isn't going to turn a river like the brazos or devils into a cess pool If you can't get far enough away from the water to dig and dispose of it property, you should bag it up. On rivers like the devils, you really have no where to dig away from the water without trespassing. Do some research before you start talking nonsense. I'd bet you don't have an education in either microbiology or ecology.

IMO you're probably doing more harm to the environment with the plastic bag than you would be by just leaving your waste behind. Just because you toss it in the trash doesn't mean it goes away. Dig a hole and do your business, then carry on. I tend to agree with this^^^ Here is my outdoor toilet. Small, portable and I don't have to carry my own chit around with me!

yakitup, you created some controversy here - everyone is touchy about their poo - but if you have to or want to pack it out, that's a great idea.

Lol this is funny. Didn't mean to start anything! Carrying my [censored] out isn't something I want to do. It's just something I feel responsible to do. If your like me then the Porta crate is an easy solution.

Some places 'carry out' is the law. Groovy topic and good info. Used a rocket can some back in the day. Check it out. A bit much for a yak but nothing for a raft trip. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=248792Peace out. PS. Like the milk crate with noodle pads. Good i-deer.

Coming from a guy with his name.... I believe him If you can't get far enough away from the water to dig and dispose of it property, you should bag it up.
On rivers like the devils, you really have no where to dig away from the water without trespassing.

Catboss, you opine more often than you should.

I wont ever carry my own poo. No way no how. If im required to bring bags ill bring them but I wont use them! If a coyote, rabbit, cow, eagle, goat, bear, etc can poop in the woods so can I.

Or you could just talk me into making you one of these. Works great, and if you forget to pick it up after using its biodegradable.
