For sure you mean "flipping", and not pitching?

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Good point Cloud Dancer, Angler's get those two confused. But when I pitch I use a fast gear ratio reel. Never flip because I don't know how. peep

Core MgFV is the best pitching reel I've used. Nice and light with the thumb tabs you can use to engage the spool quickly without touching the handle. It will pitch a mile, has a decent drag and 7:1.

Pitching with a 1/2 ounce and up and most any good quality reel works fine.

As you start down in weight and using heavy line there is a very definite difference between reels.

No Shimano I've ever thrown would stay with a Daiwa. Its how they let line off the reel how the reel keeps up with the line.

To test a reel take a 1/4 ounce jig on 20 pound line and compare. A Daiwa Zillion or the older HSDF are very good at throwing light baits and allowing you to keep a low trajectory and quiet entry. Other reels may have caught up and I have not tried any of the newest non Daiwa's.
