I moved to North Carolina last October and since I got my "new to me" 20i, it hasn't quit raining long enough to actually get out and fish much. If it wasn't for all the lightning I might deal with the rain, but after one bad experience on the lake with lightning, never again. When I have been out it has been navigating around floating debris from the flooding and catching dinks. I hear they have 5 pounders here but haven't actually seen one yet to prove it! I used to complain about low water, too much traffic on Fork, rude boaters, etc., etc., but now I look forward to trips back home fishing with buds in the DFW area. Thank you TFF for keeping me connected and seeing what I miss about TX. About the only thing I don't miss is the triple digit temps. Y'all stay safe and enjoy the best fishing in the world and hopefully I will be back one day soon!

There's a whole lot of folks here in Texas that would give up a few days of fishing to see some good rainfall and our lakes fill back up. If you're tired of the rain send it our direction!!

I could never leave Texas forever, although I would not mind spending July and August in the North West. Maybe September through November in the Midwest hunting. Back to Amistad for December and January and the rest of my time on Fork.

Ah yes, that would be the life.

At this point I would gladly send it your way. Flash flood warnings every day aren't cool. Over 10" of rainfall since last Friday and despite a little break this morning we have more on the way. I didn't know I moved to the Amazon rain forest! Weather here is just as crazy as Texas.

I left DFW for NC last year as well and still regularly read TFF. What lakes in NC are fishing? I fish Lake Gaston and do pretty well. We're in the Raleigh area.

I finally broke down and got a Skeeter. 07 20i. Drove to Kentucky to pick it up about 3 weeks ago. So did Zach take over the 190?

I am in Denver, about 5 minutes from Lake Norman. I have been fishing Norman and Mountain Island, but going to try Wylie this weekend if the rain ever lets up. I hear High Rock is a good bass lake but its a pretty good haul over there.

I moved to Canberra, Australia two months ago. The fishing here, simply put, sucks. Not to mention the cost of equipment is outrageous. I miss Texas, or can you tell, lol.

Patta Whack I was born and raised in that part of the country and now I reside in east texas. Norman is okay for numbers and every now and then you'll pop one with shoulders but as for quality and size you're gonna have to do a little driving. Mountain Island has its moments but it a tough lake to learn and I hear that the bassfishing on that lake has declined in recent years. You will want to fish Badin and Tuckertown for bass. Badin is a jewel and I've seen several over 12 come out of that lake.

The best bassfishing in NC by far is in Shearon Harris just outside of Raleigh about a 2hr drive out of Charlotte up hwy49 and 64. Harris is managed as a trophy lake and has a slot similar to the slot on Fork. Its fairly small and full of grass(hydrilla, milfoil , coontail, lily pads etc). I think the lake record is well over 15lb. Also nearby Harris is Jordan and Falls lake both excellent bass fiseries. Wylie is a good bass lake but it gets a ton of pressure because its so close to Charlotte. If you ever need any help or info shoot me a pm, tightlines.
