I'm sure it was an honest mistake.....he prob wasn't thinking.

In 4-5 decades of fishing, I can count on one hand the times I have been checked. Twice in PB, twice on bank and never in yak.

I haven't been checked in my yak (in the short time i've had it), but when i had my little 14' SeaDoo power boat, i was checked 3 trips in a row at one point. And i'm not talking about quick checks either. At least 15 minutes of them asking to see 'this' and 'that'

I had the same experience last year on GV (actually Denton Creek), probably the same GW. She did ask me how long I was planning on being on the water. I assume that was because it was about an hour or so before sunset and I didn't have a 360 light on my yak at the time.

I have been checked once in my yak. I was fishing San Luis Pass and beached to stretch and cast net some more bait. As soon as I beached, the GW drove over. I was wearing my PFD, all the GW asked for was for me to open my cooler, which was empty. I think they were checking everyone that was surf fishing.

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

Haha like we did in the military.we used painters poles with grappling hooks and tennis balls on the hooks to not make noise, then would deploy the Jacobs latter. Good times, good ole VBSS.

Was this a Texas Warden or Oklahoma?
If it was the Texas Warden he has a kayak that he patrols in back in the creeks. Not unusual at all for them to make a connection between crafts. He probably just didn't see the rod there.
If it was the TX Warden, he's a really good guy who I have known for many years.
