If I want to fish for white bass along the dam, is the best place to launch near the marina area? Thanks very much for any help.

As you look at the dam like your sitting ing the lake there is a ramp on the left end. We saw it this weekend. Do a google earth search and you will see it. Not sure how to get to it. We have a friend at ray roberts marina so we launch there.
Also the navionics app for android has all the marinas, ramps, service stations etc. Handy little app.

It's not that I can't find it, I've fished over there from the bank, but have never put in with a boat over there. I guess I was wondering is it a good area to kayak fish?

From the Marina to the dam is around 2.5miles. From Isle Du bois to the dam is about 1.6. I will tell you on the weekends and holidays you will find a TON of boat traffic at the dam. The ski boats run up and down it all day long during the warm weather.

That ramp might have been accessible via the old Observation Tower (or it's called something similar). I was told by TPWD folks that the area is shut down now because it became a late night hangout and there was lots of alcohol and drug use. It's a shame because it's right off the road before you hit the dam and looked like a great launch point.
