This shark has me stumped. Very cool catch. I'm going to work on the ID. You might have a rare shark on your hands.

Don't know. That was my first trip to really fish down there. Awesome trip. The wind howled the first fourdays. It died out quite a bit the last two days.

Thanks. It was cool to see. Guys down the beach from us at slp caught 150 and 250 lb bull sharks but no pics. We caught several small sharks too but not pic worthy.

Looks like a NICE Black tip..Thought it was a spinner at first till I checked the the fins good..Thought,maybe a dusky..And---no its a black tip.. Don't be too quick to call it a blacktip. The 2nd Dorsal and the anal fin appear to be offset. Blacktips are directly on top of eachother. Thanks. It was cool to see. Guys down the beach from us at slp caught 150 and 250 lb bull sharks but no pics. We caught several small sharks too but not pic worthy. Wow that must have been an 8 foot bull shark. Awesome. Any more pictures of this shark?

The other pics were blurry so I deleted them. Only one i got. Tge blue water wasnt too far out yesterday. Some places it was 100 yards or less. It really changed down there the last 48 hrs.

Awesome. Well congrats on a nice shark. I've got lots of professionals discussing the identity right now. I'll let you know when I get a good consensus!

Not a bull, not a blacktip looks like a sandbar shark to me. no black on anal/adipose fins, or super-tall dorsal like a dusky, can't see the top of it's head, though. Still stickin' w/ sandbar, especially based on time of year & where you caught it

Looks like a NICE Black tip..Thought it was a spinner at first till I checked the the fins good..Thought,maybe a dusky..And---no its a black tip.. Looks like you were right! I've checked with MANY shark professionals and this one had a lot of people confused. The general consensus is that it was a big female blacktip that just pupped, which is why it looks skinny and awkward for a BT.

blows me away every time I see pictures of sharks like this being caught around the beaches. I would never swim in the waters around here! ... but amazing catch! Super jealous!
Happy fishing!
