So I'm at lake Buchanan right now...caught what I believe is a white bass but not too sure..sorry it's blurry ha to take a photo of it off the camera Can someone tell me what it is...also how to distinguish between the other species I might catch? Aaand also if trolling lures would be more effective? =) caught this one with a jig by luck

Yes, Tino, that is a white bass(Morone chrysops). Some call them sand bass. Related to the striped bass (Morone saxatilis) and cross-bred with them to produce triploid (sterile) hybrid stripers(aka "wipers" or just plain "hybrids"). Slab spoons in 1/2 to 1 oz. sizes or 2-3" curlytail grubs in white or chartreuse on 1/16 - 1/8 oz. jigheads will usually catch them. They'll have a deeper body, lighter stripes and will be smaller, on average, than the stripers in Buchanan. Usually if you find one, there will be a lot more around. This time of year, 25 feet of water or less on a windward point would be a good place to start looking. Or keep your eyes peeled for schooling fish morning and evening. BTW, you aren't helping Glenn by catching those stinky whites.

When trolling i will use a rapala x rapin white or silver and black also when their schooled up on top. 1/8 oz road rjnner with a 2 in white curly tail grub work well also and is easier to get out when their biting fast. I get alot of smaller ones on the road runners though. If they are deeper i use a storm shad crank bait or an h2o 2 in crank bait. Bacially anything that looks like a shad or minnow will get hit.
