the police don't patrol for fishing rule breakers.they are safety rule enforcers.game wardens do the fishing rules, and safety, and anything else they want.but the police can get them for littering and trespassing.

Actually guys,

Police officers (Texas Peace Officers) can enforce everything a game warden can. Except not showing your game bag. And the the Water Safety Act, i.e. the 100 ft rule etc. A peace officer must attain a Marine Safety Officer certification to enforce the Water Safety Act, which is 24 hour course (at least it was when I went through). I was a deputy in Rockwall County some years back and I would check hunters and fishermen for licenses. You were FAR more likely to get a citation from me for one of those violations than for speeding (from me anyway).

Disclaimer: There may have been changes to the laws I referenced above as I have worked for a municipality for the last 11 years where there was no need for me to stay on top of the above mentioned laws. As there are no navigable bodies of water in the city I currently work.

The 100 ft. rule does not exist on Ray Hubbard. Last weekend I was buzzed by 23 different boats that came within 50 ft. One Jet skier decided it would be cool to go between me and the rocks coming withing 10 ft. This is a huge problem on Hubbard.

Steve this the main reason we seldom NEVER go to Hubbard anymore. A few months back we went a few times and with the $$ launch fees + the things mentioned here it just was not worth it. We witnessed a wake boat's wake knock a new CC Skeeter with a family into the bridge pilings, they never slowed down coming under the bridge and ruined everything for everyone there.

About to send a letter to city council, asking them if they consider having Rowlett Police take over lake from Dallas, to please consider properly staffing the lake better than Dallas Pd. Not knocking Dallas, they just dont have staffing. If you support this just PM me your name and email so i can include it in the email. I'd like to get at least 100 names to put on it. Their ears perk up more when they see alot of potential "voters"..lol..Over 56,000 residents in Rowlett, and less than 1,000 residents voted...Crazy, so they listen to emails. Don't know if it will help, but willing to try anything..Thanks!

I live on the lake and fish the lake about 4-6 times a week. Feel free to give me a call anytime. I would love to assist. 512-796-0333. I've worked on some safe boating projects in the past.
