Was goint to get a bait box at Bass Pro - ( I know this should be in the equipment forum - but you striper chasers know more about this than anybody) I was surpised at the price from $80-$350 dollars. Dont striper fish that much so I was wondering -have any of you tried the pump system you can rig up a cooler. Looks like it has 2 spray bars with plastic flex pipe tied to a pump you run off of your battery. Can I have some opinions on this - Cost of the spray attachment was about $60. I have plenty of cooler i can use this one. Comments please.

Do a search on this forum for home-made tanks... Have seen some how to.'s on here... Someone may chime in...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Unless you have the material laying around, a bait tank gets pricey to make. Google kodiak bait tanks they make one that will cost the same as a home made one basically. But if you wanna make one, you'll need a 500gph bilge pump 3/4inch clear tube for water circulation a filter box and a decent container that is round. Hope this helps man !

For a smaller tank a 10" canister water filter works pretty well. A spray bar is not really necessary as long as the water is circulating. A 12V bubbler will work as will a nozzle above the water level. Of course keeping good bait for any length of time this time of the year is tough to start with.

"Box" scared me. Shad MUST have a oval or round tank. Besides air, shad need to rid themselves of gasses and scales. That's where a filter system comes in. They are a nasty bunch and can be temperamental. I'd hate to throw a net for 2 hours only to have my bait die because of my tank. You must have fresh, lively bait. Key word Lively. Buy a good tank! I know pricy, but will last a long time and give you lot's of Good bait.

A good bait tank can be made from a 30 gallon or 50 gallon plastic barrel. Cut it in two about half way up as it's sitting vertical. You can purchase a recirculating pump with a filter attached to hook up to your 12 V battery.
Fill it a little over half full with a bucket and turn on pump. This will keep your bait lively for the day. Pump must be run at all times bait is in the tank.
Be careful not to put too many baits in it at one time.
Throw some ice in it on very hot afternoons.
Happy fishing.

I completely agree with this recommendation. Unlike other toys purchases, you will probably only lose the same amount that you would have lost by building one yourself when and if you decide to resale the sunshine bait tank. These bait tank hold the values hence worth the price you pay. Try looking for a used one and you will see what I mean. GP approved Grayline Sunshine too! Yahoo, I have been wanting to use that line a while now Hope you are ok with that FastGuy.

If you are going to put a picture or logo up "Save" it and then..........click on your screen name, click on "view profile" click on"my stuff" click on "edit profile" go back to the edit button on the top left corner and click on "paste".
If that doesn't get it done ask one of the young guys in the factory, they can do it in their sleep.
