Looking to fish the surf and wondering where to cast net some mullet for bait, tahnks ...take my advice and hit up Academy and get one of those cheap...maybe I am calling it wrong....but "Soduko" rigs. Have about six jigs pre rigged. Hit 61st Street where the water runs under the road and catch a [censored] load of small Croaker.
The Trout are after them as well as the Reds on the beach.
...so good it tastes like it died screaming!

A Sibiki rig, will get you some bait for sure. Mustad sells a Piscator Rig which is the same thing for a buck, get a few, catch some bait, toss and use another one. Use the smallest hook they have available, #10 or #12, will get you a wider range of bait. Tip the hooks with a very tiny piece of fresh dead shrimp and you are good to go. I have casted these into the wade gut and been overly successful.

My cast net always comes out looking like a taco. When I lived in FL. I used to throw a pretty big net, 12 to 20 feet but put the weight in between my teeth, won't do that here. So now I'm using a much smaller net, 5 ft. and a different way to toss. I'm still learning the new way and have become the Taco King too.
