I usually use tubes or jigs, I tried out road runners this spring, good grief they work great, pre-spawn and spawn. Slow roll over the hydrilla. Black/chart, white/chart, pink head/white body, chart head/white body. I am a believer now.
Those RRs you have look like the top of the line version, never seen those. ALso we used marabou, grub, stick tails - changing up helps boat more fish. the size seemed to matter most.

I have used them long line trolling since the late 1970's and every spring that is about all I use. Also fall it can be a real killer. It also is good casting in spring, but for me long line trolling is the very best! Look at my site on the page I am giving a link to and the only picks on this page that are my fish were caught on Roadrunners. Just wish I could have fished more days and will next spring for sure. Also the first pics below the top 2 were caught on Feb 3 and the only pic that was an all day of fishing and even that one we just took lunch from 12:00 to 3:30. All the rest were like just an afternoon for a few hours each. http://thumpitjigs.com/CatchPhotos2.html

They work very well with Lake Fork Baby Shad and Slab bandits. I used them often before I started tying. I've even tied a couple just for fun.

Road runners are a great bait.I have caught dozens of sand bass each spring with them.Perch and bream hit it and bass will chase them down. They match any jig for a crappie bait.

Anything that swims will hit this lure. I always have them with me. No wrong way to use them. I mainly cast them but can be used for jigging. I buy just the heads in 1/16 and 1/8 and put whatever soft body on them.

You present the jig any way you'd like. I fish side by side with gentlemen who swear by those bent hook jig heads and I always use a roadrunner. I haven't noticed a difference one way or another except when the fish want the bait moving. At those times, when they want it moving, I'm not sure if it's the flash or vibration that the fish react to. Dead stick it, troll it, slow retrieve, fast retrieve or any way you like to present it. It works and will catch as many fish for you as any other jig head.
Ask Ketchn, he'll tell you. With the exception of that one time he fished in a pond without me, I usually catch bigger fish than he does. I'm not saying it's the roadrunner because it could be the fellow working the jig. But then Ketchn prefers to think it's got to be the jig instead of me out fishing him.

they awl bla bla bla bout out ketchn me ... and at sum point it always works that way .... but more often than not they watch me out ketchn them iz the part they leave out a tha story .... funny how that happens aint it .... hahahaha ROFLMBO when the fish want something large with flash and movement .... a roadrunner cannot be beat most a tha time .... and I prefer swimmy tails on mine ...
