I would like to talk to some guides, as well as regular fishermen, on lake ray hubbard in regards to enforcement issues on the lakes and creeks. Our main concern is illegal fishing , in and around the lake and creeks of hubbard. I'm a Sergeant with the Rowlett Police Department, and we are in the process of putting together some enforcement action plan to try and clean up the lake.Although Dallas has the lake, theres a real strong possibility that they will be letting us have the enforcement of the lake. If you would like to talk to me about concerns and illegal activities, PM me and we can talk over the phone. I've lived on this lake and fished this lake since i was a kid, so i want to try and do everything i can to help this lake thrive. Thanks!

Miller Rd, the area around the N Dallrock Rd boat ramp and old marina, Robbison Park and the old burnt bridge area are the biggest problem areas in my opinion. I fish 15 + days a month on Hubbard and it seems to be getting worse.

Considering that Rowlett only has jurisdiction over a small portion of the shoreline I think your efforts would be better served in curbing the amount of trash that flows into a water supply lake from Rowlett Creek. That should be priority one. It's embarrassing to look at the Rowlett shoreline.

Why would the cops main concern be ILLEGAL FISHING..... That's the TPWD job. If you want to make Ray Hubbard a nicer lake then start with stopping all the theft from the Dalrock boat ramps. At least make that your first concern. Then maybe start focusing in on the trashy nasty people that use the parks for birthday parties and fiestas then leave there trash all over the place. After that, maybe you can shift your focus over to the "illegal" fishing that goes on out there on the banks. But if your going to fix the "illegal" fishing then you might want to do more than ticket a "illegal". We all know it ain't getting paid.
I've fished rowlett creek for over 20 years and in that 20 years I have seen the police department write 0 tickets and take 0 people to jail. Not saying it hasn't happen, I just haven't seen it.
It's simple, you want to write more tickets, arrest more people, and send more "illegal fishermen" home, then put on your rubber boots and walk the banks of rowlett creek from the end of feb till about the first of may. That should clean up most of the "illegal fishing" for the year.
Most of these thieves, like lake fork and others, are not fishermen. They are just down right POS people. Maybe the police force should start there and the main concern should be making our boat ramps safe! Once you clean that up, then maybe you can focus on the "illegal" fishing problems there.

They may not have a license but are they fishing or breaking into cars, stealing trucks, robbing the fishermen of there equipment. Again, we should handle those issues before the police department makes there "main concern" illegal fishing.

thanks for all your concerns, and i will contact those who have sent me pm's wanting to help, not criticize. to make it clear, we have NO authority over any ramps, docks, parking,etc... The only reason we are concerned with illegal fishing on the creeks and and CERTAIN banks is that we own the land surrounding. If we take control over the lake, thats years away. We have to start somewhere, and thats the illegal fishing in parts that WE have jurisdiction. And yes its game wardens jobs, but they welcome our help..Again we have absolutely no control over all the areas of theft, on water, etc.. and trust me,this has nothing to do with tickets, just trying to do a little at time...and thats all we CAN do right now, is tackle the illegal fishing and happening that go around it. Mainly looking for places where people spot these sorts of things. I honestly dont tave the time to get into a debate with anyone about law enforcement and about what we do. If you're willing to help, thank you.

I grew up in Garland and Rowlett and have resided in the Ray Hubbard area for most of my 44 years. I am interested to know in the future how your plans are working, so please keep us informed. Thanks for your effort to start somewhere!

There's not that much illegal fishing that really goes on these days...except fishing in restricted areas, unmarked trotlines, keeping too many sandbass in the creeks...a few LEO's will not make that much of a difference except in areas like Rowlett Creek in the springtime. Keeping real CRIME down in the accessible parts of the lake that do lie with the jurisdiction makes good sense...let the game wardens do their job because a regular police officer's specialty is not in fish and game violations.

Just giving my opinion on what would I think would help this lake.
People don't ask where to dock at to stay away from illegal fishing. They ask where to dock at to keep the vehicles and belongings safe.
Good luck and I hope your force does help and makes Hubbard a better lake.

i truly understand all comments and concerns, ive had my own truck broken into several years ago at garland dock..we just cant do anything about those since we dont own those...im hoping (hoping) that if our city gets the water and a portion of the land they develop, they will build a nice ramp with security..again these are hopes, but when and if we get to those stages ill reach out to this community to get voices to push that..i'll pitch it the best way i can...i seriously love this lake, and we can only do so much at this point.thanks again
