Resubmitting this post from the Bass Fishing section of the forum. Sorry to the veterans out there, I'm sure this has been asked before:

I'm about 20 years away from the Ranger Boat I've always wanted, but I managed to find a used angling Kayak that I hope to have a lot of fun with. I've taken it out a couple of times, once to Grapevine and once to Eagle Mountain and caught a few, nothing brag-worthy.

I know there have to be a lot of places around where you don't have to spend most of your time dodging jet-skis and trying not to get swamped in the wake of large ski-boats, but I wouldn't know where to start. What are some good kayak bass fishing options in the Fort Worth area? I live in the about 5 minutes north-east of downtown Fort Worth.

personally would rather Get out at dawn with my lights on and be off by 10 or 11am.
on almost any lake you'll be fine doing this.

Sounds like you may be right on the Trinity River! Look for some "safe" put in spots.

+1 Zombie it does come down to timing during the summer, I am not much on getting up at the crack of dawn on a day off, The evening into the night is nice and quite on some lakes. sticking in the stumpy areas will help.

How far you willing to drive? Half-hour? Hour? Hour and a half? There are lots of bass filled bodies of water with no recreational boaters/jet skiers (even in the summer) an hour and a half from FTW.

Marine creek right off the 820 is a good one. You can fish the whole lake in a day and theres alot of water where boats cant go. Lake worth is good also. Lost of fish in there. If you see a guy in a red kayak its me, feel free to give me the finger if you see me. Lol

Like said above all about timing. Boats dont seem to care about buzzing you. Jet skis also. Drives me crazy sometimes. Ive been hitting the water by 430 am and getting off about 10. Not as much traffic.

And on wednesdays lake worth has the working man tourneys. Lots of bass boats on wed afrernoons.

Lake worth has plenty of big fish in it.

I don't mind driving an hour or two here and there for a good experience. I'm excited to fish the trinity some, I never would have thought there would be bass in it.

I'm from the nacogdoches area originally and don't know anyone up here to point me in the right direction, so I really appreciate all the input. If anybody needs a paddling partner hit me up.

+1 On The Trinity. My favorite spot to bass fish and it has some bruisers. In fact I find the bass I catch out the River to fight twice as hard as the ones I get at the lake. They are alot meaner. Some of the other spots popel have mentioned are good too. There is also Wheeler Branch down south. Crystal clear and a electric or paddle power only lake so no worries about getting ran over. Cleburne is also a decent choice I've never had any problems out there no matter the time of day.

Wow, i had never heard of Wheeler Branch Reservoir.

Apparently they stock it full of Walleye too.

May have to give that place a chance

+1 on Wheeler Branch. Excelent fising and its a small no wake lake. Drive a little further and you have the Brazos below Whitney or Possum Kingdom. Both excellent.
