My transducer came unglued a few weeks ago so I went to the store in hopes of buying something a little "stronger". I purchased 3M Marine adhesive from Home Depot. I managed to get it all finished up ( which took 7 days to cure). I took the yak out this weekend and the FF wouldn't work. So all pissed off I went home after an took it off and sat it in a bucket of water - worked fine. So then I proceed to sit it in some Tupperware floating on top of the water - didn't work. Doing this is basically the same as havin it in my kayak I'd assume.
I am also assuming that the transducer needs something like Marine goo in order to transduce the beam? Much like an ultrasound needs the gel??
So I reckon my questions are... Was the adhesive I purchased too dense or something for the transmissions to pass thru? Would it work properly if I purchased marine goo? Has anyone else has this problem? Thanks.

i got tired of messing around and trying to find the best way to "glue" my transducer down in my boat. So i just broke down and bought a transducer deployment arm from ram mounts. Best decision I ever made! EAsy to take on and off or lift out of the water when I want to paddle a good distance and I get crystal clear readings! Best way to go IMO just not the cheapest.

Had the same issue with my first fish finder. Now both of my yaks are setup with the springs. Do I bang it sometimes? Sure but atleast I know the Dang thing will work everytime I go out. When I did thru hull one minute it would work perfect and the next it tells me I'm in 500' of water.

Yea. Where can I get one of these set ups and how much money would it cost? I like that spring one, Esp since I have a cuda and it looks like it would mount real easy? How did you run the cord from the back of the yak to the front near the FF? Thanks fellas.

I glued my first transducer to the inside bottom of the hull. Worked fine for a couple years then I started having issues. For the second transducer a glued a piece of pool noodle to the inside bottom of the hull with a cavity cut out in the shape of the transducer. The size of the cavity is slightly smaller than the transducer so the transducer would fit in there tightly and not flop out. Before I put the transducer in the foam holder I put a little water in the cavity. Works great.
