Do you have selective hearing or something? Now you have called me a liar.I have owned this boat for two years now.The first year it ran perfect as I told you.It sat out last year because of my injury.Yes the motor was slow to start since I owned it until you worked on it and now it still starts good. The problem is with the top end and gitting it on plane now.I have not lied to you but Im thru with you.If you wish to discuss this futher you have my number and my address.

Starts good but runs bad on top end..... sounds like rotted fuel lines, bad gas or clogged filters. What brand of motor is this?

It's a 2004 Johnson 90 hp.I thought it was the gas to so I emptied the tank, dried and cleaned it and put new gas with staybil.Lines don't show any sign of rot.It will be going to another shop this week. Thanks Bobby!

Good for you. I would be real curious as to what it was. I never had good luck with Johnson/Evinrudes personally.

Fuel lines rot from the inside out. Mine looked great on the outside but were coming apart on the inside.

Ive always had good luck with Johnson/Evinrude motors but that was 20 years ago. This is the first boat I have bought since going back to fishing public waters. Its a learning experience.
Thanks David(shut-up-and-fish). I know just enough about them to know to leave it to the mechanics. You can spend a small fortune on parts changing them out and never find the problem when you don't know anymore about them then I do.

Sure glad everyone else is getting good service. Spanky sold me a motor from his dads or uncles sale. I paid him up front for the motor, and let him take my boat to his house. He returned the boat with the motor, but no transom. He told me he had to get a part of it, and he would have it on within a couple weeks. Well needless to say, I have never seen or heard from him again. I have called, emailed, and sent PM's from here on numerous occassions, and still nothing.

I have saved all my PM messages, and it it funny because they all say, " spanky's has removed themself from this topic."

Still waiting.

I'm sorry you guys have been having some trouble but in my estimation there's probably two sides of the story. I'll stick with Spanky. The experiences I had, have all been positive. He's a straight up dude and will tell you from the start how much the repair will be. It's up to both sides of the deal to live up to the promise.

I hope he is OK and nothing bad has happened to him. He is a good guy and has helped many here including myself many times.

Spanky you worked on my boat and besides the new hole in the bottom of the hull it was okay. That and it took three times too long to fix it.Then I find out another outboard mechanic actually did the work. With marked up price! Just be honest and you can build a client base.
