Well I been in amarillo a while now and didnt k ow about this place ..did some late night investigation lol

And called the ranger station up there and so happens fish and game was in the office abd the ranger let me talk to the fish and game officer,

I was asking him how the fishing was and to my surprise he actually said they had been catching Quite a few LMB, and a lot of huge crappie over 10 inches to 13 inches

I was in Disbelief I told the officer, he told me they stocked LMB Not long ago and they were adult sized bass 1-3 lbs and its not fished a lot because it is 80/85 miles from amarillo and 90/95 miles from Lubbock,

So only ppl from the small little towns around the General area fish there

He also said its a smaller lake and it is Quite low max 22/23 ft deep, and the lake is small and has a good abundance of fish which makes for good fishing!!

I might head up there next week once the weather Stabilizes! And the water warms up!

I know it's 80-90 miles from amarillo and its really in the middle of no where but hey if there good LMB fishing I'm there like a bear cause these ponds and lakes around amarillo hold very few bass and I'm
A bass fisherman!!

Ill report back if I get up there hopefully I will have good news to report for us amarillo guys with bass itch

Thanks for the info. I have never heard of it but may make a trip out there. Can you put a boat on it?

That's the one of few things I totally forgot to ask the ranger I talked to,

But from the looks of it on google map, it dose not look like there's a boat launch, area

But I'm pretty sure you can get a Yak, or a pond buster type craft in there it's not a huge lake plus with the water being low "23ft ranger said" it's even smaller, but it ain't tiny by no means is it a pond.... it's a smaller lake "nice size "

I was so excited that the ranger said "BASS" that I kinda had a brain fart, at that moment and was so caught up in asking how the bass fishing was that I just plum forgot about boats and stuff, like that -

There is a fee to enter the park but it was fairly cheap I think she said 4-5 $ per-person,

NO FISHING LIC is needed here she said!

It's a canyon park and its kinda Of a middle of no where area I wouldn't go alone I don't think the park gets many visitors daily so if something was to go wrong god forbid, you would have no cell signal and I doubt anyone would be around

The ranger said - not very many ppl fish the lake and everyone that comes though Usually just drives through by car to look at the views of the canyons so

So...I really wouldn't go alone that's for sure

When you live in Amarillo 90 miles isn't very far. Have fun.

Retirement best job ever.

Went camping there with my wife and kids, only fished for two hours. We ended up catching 2 channel cats and a couple perch.

Look for a Red Ford conversion Van in the Tent camping. Unless something changes we might be up there either this weekend or the next

There is a boat ramp you just cant run your big motor trolling only. The lake is full from the recent rains. They got over 3 inches in the last week. I have had bass up 9 lbs several years ago but the lake has been in alot of stress from being low. Most people fish it in the mornings and night. I normally tube fish out their.
