wow. talk about making it complicated. What has ALWAYS worked for me is to get the tie rope, tie the spare life jacket to the end, toss it out past the pillar, and snag it with a topwater. pull it back to the boat, adjust the "drift factor" length of rope, tie er down and start catching.
Rocket science i know, but hey!

It's what I use. It works great.

People been doing it for years this way. Cut in half run the rope thru it and tie a knot in the end. Main reason for it is to protect the rope and easier to get it around. In the past also used rebar heated up and made hooks out of them. Hook one side of bridge then the other and tighten the rope to center under the bridge by the pilings. This way your not hitting the piling with your boat and no drifting around to fish straight down easier This....... It really don't get any easier guys especially if you were at the 515 bridge its the signature fork method and works. I have a camper at sun eagle bay right next to the 515 bridge and everyone's got these. Cut the hoop run line through it and tie a knot at the end so it won't come back thru and you're done. You adjust it by tyin off the main end then pulling more or less out and tying off the terminal end to a cleat it takes all of about 15 seconds to tie up and about the same to make it.

What keeps the boat from hitting the concrete?

Hang your bumper guards over the side where it might come in contact with the concrete

I don't use it too often now with my new boat.... But I keep it in there just in case I want to tie up to some timber... I am afraid to scratch the new Skeeter up!! Lol
