Wow!! Glad it turned out as good as it did. I would get back to that spot (with a friend) and retrieve your stuff if it's $800.

Thanks for sharing your unfortunate, untimely incident with us. Makes us realize what can go wrong in just a bat of the eye. So glad you are OK !

I do wear my Ascend PDF. Somewhat warm, occasionally have to unzip to cool down! Let's all be SAFE !

Glad to hear your OK, and thank you for sharing your story! I know I'll remember it now. I was pretty lax on my PFD until I started fishing standing up. I had a nightmare of a dream that I was standing up fishing without my PFD and hit a stump causing me to tip over, when I tipped I hit my head on another stump! Ever since that dream, I've always worn my PFD.

Glad to hear you made it out ok. I myself last night almost had a bad time when I was in 15fow extremely stump field area with 2-3 foot white caps when I came down on top of a stump and before I knew it bang I'm in the water. When I flipped I hit a stump dead center of my back and was barely able to flip and get back on top. I am lucky that I was wearing my PDF, and I do keep everything leashed or a float connected to it. I was lucky that I as in travel at the time and had all rod and reels leashed and tackle put away. Point of my story is because of stories like yours it has helped me prepare for things like last night.

I've always said that one of the best things about this forum was the knowledge and experiences shared among the members. In this case, we all learn (or are reminded) of a lesson from your school of hard knocks (to the forehead in your case). Glad you are alright and shared your story. Could save someone's life.

Some just going to anyways, despite all the warnings.
All you can do is keep reminding them. thumb

You're lucky man. Find that post about how to rig your anchor so it won't hang.

It only takes a close call or three to make even the most stubborn wear a pfd. Judging from your post and the size of the bass in your signature I'm sure you are very experienced on the waters and confident in your kayak. Glad you posted the story for all, but especially for the stubborn ones like myself that still need reminders every now and then.
