Just bought a 998c SI for a pontoon boat. In setting up the transducer for mounting, I noted that the engine is directly in line with the SI beam, and can't really be mounted on the back of the pontoon. Any suggestions on how to set up the transducer so that SI can be used, or do I need to get used to only having SI on one side, haha?

how about a picture of the back of your boat.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Fisnnlund Kurt has a set up where he has two transducers for the SI on the back of his boat. Before we could not see the side that was blocked with the engine unless lifted up until not obstructed. Once he did that fix it worked like a charm.

Excellent idea Tom and jc! I'll get right on that. I'll name my first two SI-located brushpiles after y'all and send you the coordinates, haha.

You'll need to order a Y cable to run 2 transducers from Humminbird.

Just put it on the front. That way as your coming up on brushpiles, you can toss a marker quicker and position your pontoon where the transducer is directly over the area you most fish. And you can dropshot minnows or jigs. Just find an old trolling motor and mount it. Pontoon bow don't rise out of water much, and no turbulence from motor or toons up front.

I actually realized that, when I'm shooting SI, I'll be going slow enough to trim the motor up and out of the way. Problem solved itself. I appreciate the suggestions anyway.
