Interesting read. I guess when money is involved some people just get plain greedy. I wonder how this will effect his income now. If he's married let him explain this to his wife! I know mine would kill me!
Personally, I would love to shove an 11 oz weight down his throat and see if he likes it!!!

Cheating in bass tournaments goes back to when they were first held, and even back then the winners were subject to a lie detector test, which was more of a threat than reality in order to keep the honest anglers honest.
Just one more cast!

It seems like somebody like that would spend a long vacation in jail. I've always heard that if you get caught cheating in Las Vegas, you go to jail. Why should a fishing event be any different? They are trying to steal thousands of dollars.

Back in the 80's there was a tournament held out of Longview. You could fish any of 6 lakes. First place was a house or $50,000. A wildlife biologist checked every fish at weigh in. It was a one fish tourney. A guy brought a huge fish to the table. The biologist held it up by the tail and stuck his hand in its mouth. To everybody's surprise worm weights started dropping on the table. He was arrested and carried to jail. the fish would have taken second place and $10,000 without the weights. Jim

No names, but....long ago and far away a biologist caught a cheater in a tournament. Early spring and the cheater had figured a way (also not going to tell) to make a large female bass draw on about another 5 to 10% of weight in water, that was undetectable at weigh in, yet ended up in the ultimate sacrifice (death of) the fish at hand. It was the most insidiuos and truly disgusting of schemes that ended up in at least accusations of fraud and a black cloud over a tournament angler that never lifted.
All one need do is read "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" to figure out how to cheat. How not to get caught is another story.
