I try to run mine down as much as I can, I don't like waiting to charge them back tho. I know too many people that wait till the go fishing and throw a charger on them the night before. I charge mine either before I leave the lake or as soon as I get home ... I too put mine on the charger as soon as I back it back into the garage... But mostly because I am heading out first thing in the a.m. Lol.... It's just too easy no to do it

What ever ones you choose, look at the date they were made, some set on the shelf for a while and if they do then it may have a affect

I would stick with interstate or Continental but wouldn't have another Never Start battery in my boat. Several years ago I had Never Start a cranking battery went bad in 6 weeks took it back and got another. Was fishing a tournament and had a good limit went to start the motor nothing after I got a jump I was late for weigh in. They weighed my fish just for the heck of it and I would have won the tournament. I took the battery back to Swilmart and wanted my money back they wanted to give me a new battery we had quite an argument but finally I got a refund went down the street and bought Interstate never a problem for 4 years now run Continental and no problems

Another fan of the everstarts from wal-mart. I had my last set 6 years. Going on 3 years with this set. They last all day and cost much less than anything else being discussed here. About a third the cost of an optima blue top.

Bass pro agm batteries made by dekka. I just replaced one it was 8 years old. They hold their charge very well. They are heavy and expensive, but if you buy the group 27 you will not run them down.

exide is bankrupt now. wally world uses johnson control batteries, they also make optima.
I have run wally worlds for a lot of yrs and the main thing is how you treat them, set I have now is over 3 yrs old and goin strong. charge as soon as possible after use, make sure to leave on a trickle charge when fully charged (any digital charger will do this), check water level at least 2 times a month and top off with distilled water.
if you check on who johnson control makes batteries for I think it will surprise you at all the brands they do. I hauled them 31,000# at a time and talked to some of the techs at the company in ft wayne indiana, all are pretty much the same just a different name on it, very few have different make up inside.

i personally like trojan batteries, they are the same used in golf carts, last forever, the one in my aluminum boat i use for starting trolling all day and it still holds a charge, best batteries IMO, current one is 6 years old, two i just bought for my bass boat last year are still good, never any problems, only downside is the price.....a little more expensive but not like an optima(junk imo) Trojan is a good battery. I had mine for four years & they were still good when I changed them out.

I've been happy with the Everstart Maxx batteries from Wally World. They are reasonable in price with a good warranty.
