It keeps me off the smack.
Really, it's the escape. The focus and concentration involved blocks out everything else. It's the puzzle. Trying to figure out a pattern and put everything together to boat a monster or a limit. I love problem solving. It's something my wife and I really enjoy doing together. My daughter is learning to enjoy it too. Its pretty special to find an activity we all can enjoy together. The competition of tournaments just adds another level to it all.

I can't explain it... I grew up fishing and I just never could get enough of being on and around the water. Nothing beats being on the lake, and working isn't too bad either when you get to sell fishing tackle..

sometimes i think i was born to fish. i am probably one of the most competitive people you will ever be around. fishing can be whatever you want it to be, but for me it has always been a challenge. i have also enjoyed the oompetition of tournament fishing. that is one reason that i have worked on lure development over the years. i always wanted to have better performing lures than my competitor. i have been blessed to live most of my life living very close to table rock lake, and being able to grow up fishing. the lake has always been my "get off to myself" sanctuary. i am thankful every time i get to go fishing.

For me its the "mindless" escape from work/society. plus on the occasion its the free fish filet I can catch. And its tons of fun, keeps me entertained more than what call of duty does!

I started because it was just something I always wanted to learn and fresh out of college with no job seemed like the best time. (It was not, I was broke haha)
But since then I've gone to many places, seen many beautiful sights, gone on many adventure, and met wonderful people. Fishing might be one of the few things I feel I did right.
There are other reasons but this one is the one I wanted to share the most.
Tight lines!
At first it was about the fish, now it's about so much more...

To relax and enjoy nature, and everytime I catch fish while driving home I feel this great sense of achivement, like I somehow have conquered nature to be the master of the wild and able to survive if I had to.

Fishing is a communion with the universe. It keeps grounded in our mortality. Each season each day each trip each fish will never be repeated and should be cherished and appreciated. As one gets older and realizes "i only have a finite number fall fishing seasons left" they become so much more valuable.
Ya GOTTA poke a hole in 'em!!!!!!!

Started when I was a very young boy. Getting woke up early in the morning by my father or my grandfather to run trotlines. Loved fishing from the very start. Started with trotlines, then crappie fishing and then bass fishing. Then the thrill of getting first bass boat and the thrill of winning a tournament. Never gets old. Another thing I love about bass fishing is trying to figure out what the fish are doing and then finding them.

Many reasons, but you never know when that one cast will reel in the BIG ONE!

It's a drive, an addiction. It's being outdoors seeing nature as very few do. It's feeling that thump on a jig or seeing the eruption of a topwater bite. It's the challenge of figuring out how to catch them in ever changing seasons and conditions. Competition-wise, it's the only sport I've excelled at and although I really enjoy tournaments it's the fishing itself that drives me.
