Here's my problem, when running on water and I turn, it seems the prop isn't staying in the water, RPM's go up as well. When i'm running straight and hit a small wave and the nose rises then comes back down, it's like prop comes out of water. when I checked where prop is positioned with back of boat, it's about center of drain plug hole. Here's a pic of back of boat. Some may suggest lowering motor, but I think it's already as far down as it will go. See pic. model # of motor 200tlrp 666 L I'm thinking I need a 5" extension.

Don't think so' when running straight it runs good. When I trim up thou, it increases speed, but when I hit a wave or turn, it's like it comes out of the water.

No, your hull is built for a 20" "L" shaft, you do not want a XL 25" shaft.

90% of your boats performance is the prop, when it's right everything else is easy, but until it's right, nothing else will work.

Call Steve at Steves props at lake fork, go see him, get yourself propped and setup right, and life will be much better from now on.

ok Matt, get your mind out of the gutter, but I was thinking the same thing when I wrote the title. I'll post a pic tomorrow with the motor trimmed all the way down.

Run you jack plate down until the cavitation plate on your lower unit is even with the keel of your transom. Run it and see if that cures the problem. Looking at the side bolts on the jack plate slots, you've got it set up way to high and are caveating the prop to the point of blowing it out. If you have a GPS and electric jack plate trim the jack up and down until you reach max speed. That should be the sweet spot.

if the center of your prop is in line with your drain plug hole it looks like you have a 20 in motor on a 25in transom boat.

Yes smith I think you are rite. based on the id # on the motor, it shows to be a 20'' shaft. the boat is a 95, and the motor is a 91. the person I bought it from blew a piston through the wall, probably cause it was cavitating to much. I had the whole upper rebuilt and don't what to screw it up. the prop on it shows to be a 25m. can't lower it any more, only have about a inch clearance from top of transom. probably going to take it to the person that rebuilt it and see how to correct it. thanxs everyone for your advise, I was looking for some opinions before taking it in.

there is a company named bay manufacturing that makes an extension kit for most outboard motors that would probly be your best way to keep your motor together.
