Happy, I like Gene Larew black & blue hog craws, either TX or Carolina rigged off points, ridges, humps etc. but I also check out the banks or the same points & ridges if they have some grass around them, I like to chunk Stan Sloan Zorro Colorado blade spinner baits, usually black and the copper blade Lunker Lure buzz baits, I usually have a plastic trailer w/trailer hook on them. Don't be afraid to try some color though, I have caught fish on white buzzbaits at nite before! the phase of the moon or cloud cover can change the bite in a hurry.
hmm and don't forget the thermos of coffee or ice tea or mountain dews, somebody already mentioned lite sticks & marker bouys, a small flashlight on a lanyard or shoestring around your neck will come in handy and last, TPWD frowns on fishing without your navigation lights on smile have fun

#1 single most important tip for night fishing. BUG SPRAY. Or one of those new little clip-on fan dealies with the bug repellant cartridges. Those seemed to work pretty well for us last year. Pray for a little bit of wind. Just a little. And try not to set the hook too hard when a bat bumps your line, and they will.

We've caught them on Carolina rigs, Texas rigs, top waters, buzz baits, spinner baits, you name it. It's just like day fishing, you just have to find what they want then keep giving it to them.

I took this photo over my head last year. Sounded like a buzz saw buzzing.

Nihgt fishing is very awsome, for the newby just getting started I would start in any marina that you can. This way you can use the dock lights to help you adjust to the light changes, then start venturing out as you get used to the light changes. Anything in a dark colored worm is good or dark colored jigs. black spinner baits and dark colored crank baits. On fork there is a high spot on the dam that is good at night, just tie on a 10 in dark power worm work it slow, they will find it, also the outer edge of weeds will hold big fish as they roam back and forth down these edges. good luck. Also start your night fishing on smaller lakes until you learn how to navigate at night.

For fork. I use a 7/0 offset shank owner hook 3/8 tungsten and a 14 inch v&m solid black worm.

I've always used the same lures i would if it was day. I only change for over cast. My thought process was "Does a watermelon green worm change into something else at night?" Nope.

Although, there are lures that are more productive in low light situations. Like spinners, rattle traps, chatter baits, and top waters.

My three go to night setups:

1) 10" Power Worm, 3/16 tungsten pegged t-rig

2) Red Shad Senko, t-rig weightless 4/0 hook

3) Watermelon fluke, t-rig weightless, flouro (may add swivel)

Fish like you normally would but I do tend to have better results dragging through veg and tearing/wiggling it free. When you feel it make it's way through the cover 'kill it' and wait.

If there's a moon out I'm throwing frog as well - black bottom
